5th grade journal 10 (Retro personal entry)

(This is a transcription of journal entries from long before I started this blogsite. This one is from 5th grade.)

3-20-95 (sic; it was really 1996)
Dear God,
I do not like this (partially erased symbols: #X%$) school. Mr. Resser is a sorry
(partially erased symbols: struck-through "~~", 5-pointed star, bus without wheels, asterisk) Thing . He did not make me go on a field
trip. I attempted to poke Sean Sullivan with a pencil because
I had a bad past and Sean won't let me pray. I broke
a ruler because I didn't go on a that field trip. I wish
you would ZAP me back to Kansas so I would not
tolerate any more of those (partially erased symbols: US flag on left of pole, mushroom or table with center column, car with bumpers that stick out and without wheels, a jug/flask, a box with an X, $) enemies.

In Jesus name we pray,

AMEN

(Retro note: A few days after I wrote this last journal entry, my parents were kind enough to pull me out of Fishing Creek Elementary and transfer me to the Emmanuel Baptist Christian Academy in nearby Mechanicsburg. I was furious that our principal didn't let me go on a field trip after I put a pencil within about two or three inches of Sean Sullivan's eyes.

After transferring to the friendlier private school, I did have the pleasure to go on a field trip to a farther destination than we would have at Fishing Creek. In EBCA's field trip, we got to tour Washington, DC.

I lived in Pennsylvania from October 1995 through July 1996, so about nine months. We all felt miserable in PA, so Dad got transferred back to Kansas. Looking back however, I wish we would've been transferred to Korea instead.)

Dear God,
I have too much enemies to handle. Most New students
doesen't have friends but has no enemies. But me. I have
Shaun and multiple people that are my enemies.
I agree for Shaun to be my friend so we can
reduce trouble and chances of goingto the principals
office. Ms. Brownings students are enemies for no
reason.and they get worse overtime.
I want Shaun to be my friend.
I forgive Shaun. But he dosen't forgives
me back.Is he a real Christian?
In Jesus name we pray,

AMEN

Dear Journal,
There would be stars beyond the sSolar System. (sic)
There would possibly be planets and other
living things, and I wonder if the HST is about 10 billion
light years into the universe. Would Hubble Space telescope
get satellite information from another World?
There is a mystery!

(Retro note: At about this time, a museum group brought a mobile planetarium into our school gym and gave us an Astronomy presentation. I knew it was sometime in the spring, and after opening my journal, I realize it had to have been around this time, otherwise why would I write a journal about a random topic?

I don't know if I liked exploring outer-space like this all along, or whether this planetarium exhibit triggered my fascination with outer space.)

Dear Journal,
I cannot wait until Valentines Day. For Christine Foley,
my main Valentine, I will buy a box shaped like a heart
full of 30 black chocolates, and a valentine card.
I said "black choclates" because Lindsey (Pate) told
me that Christine is allergic to White choclates.
And I can't wait to by Christine, birthday presents and
can't wait until February 12th.

(Egao No Genki; original name withheld)

(Retro note: For some odd reason, I started signing my name at the end of my journals. Moreover, I had a HUGE crush on Christine Foley that year. She was my most favorite girl of all the girls at Fishing Creek Elementary. She lived down the hill on the same Army base I lived on, so I got to hang out with her every now and then.

Unfortunately, she didn't requite her feelings back to me in the way that I had hoped, because I didn't know how to properly like and treat a girl when I was 10 & 11 years old.)

5th grade journal 6 (Retro personal entry)

(This is a transcription of journal entries from long before I started this blogsite. This one is from 5th grade.)

Jan. 22, 1996
Dear Journal,
I'm lucky enough that I live on a hill. Shaun (Brooker) might
be dead by now because of mandatory flooding. It
might be a good possibility. I'm happy to have peace.
About blizzard of "96,"

(Retro note: I left 10 lines blank after I was about to write about the Blizzard of '96. I don't remember what I was going to write about, but maybe the fact that we got so much snow, and that I enjoyed going sledding down the hills on our army base, and how beautiful the snow made our base look.

My bully lived down the hill from my house on the DDRE Army Depot in New Cumberland, PA. He lived a few miles downhill, in a trailer in a neighboring town named Lewisberry. The Blizzard of 1996 dumped so much snow that when it warmed up, all that melt-water caused flooding in low-lying areas. I had a feeling that his trailer would be underwater, and that he would have therefore drowned. Alas, he was still alive and well when we went back to school.)

5th grade journal 4 (Retro personal entry)

(This is a transcription of journal entries from long before I started this blogsite. This one is from 5th grade.)

Dec. 12, 1995
Dear Journal,
Next month is my birthday. The ones I want for Christmas is:
  1. microscope magnafyng 5000x
  2. 30 speed bike
  3. magic wand
  4. Pre-Computer 4000 (no store has that, but Santa Claus has those.)
  5. Zelda Vacuum Cleaner (5.2 Amps, 35 decibels)
  6. Assorted text books
  7. Brain Quest Collections
  8. roller skates
  9. toy car collection 50 toy cars on Hotwheels group
  10. Doll of Shaun Brooker
(Retro note: I again sounded homosexual on #10. It's a fact that many kids may give off homosexual vibes when they're 10. However, I wanted to use that doll to mutilate it and show it to my bully to convey how I feel about him.)

5th grade journal 2 (Retro personal entry)

(This is a transcription of journal entries from long before I started this blogsite. This one is from 5th grade.)

October 18, 1995
Dear journal,
In are old school we got are lunch by putting are
lunch cards in the credit card catalog. Now I am
so surprised to take care of the lunch tickets.
About Shawn Brooker (sic; Shaun Brooker), That's the boy I like the
most and want to make friends the most. But he
doesn't like me but I like him. Did he change
his personality, increase his violence and always get
in trouble with new students? He is an ATTM.
(All time trouble maker.) He must end up in the
administration center! I tried to forgive him, but
he didn't forgive me back. I think he needs a punishment
from god because he is non-friendly. Nick (Nick Winters) has to be
beaten up too. These kids hurt our feelings. They should
see the principal.

(Retro Note: I was never gay. The way I worded this entry just made me sound like a homosexual. 5th graders may have a tendency to sound like a different type of person by mistake.)

5th grade journal 1 (Retro Personal Entry)

(This is a transcription of journal entries from long before I started this blogsite. This one is from 5th grade.)

October 6, 1995
Dear Journal,
Yesterday was my first day at this new school. I like this school
because this school is a lot bigger than my old school.
My old school teachers were Mrs. Sandborn, Mrs. Becker, Mrs. Schuler,
Mrs. Jury, Mrs. Dawson, Mrs. Weller. My old school was built
1935.

(Retro note: The full names of my teachers were:
Janice Sanborn, Kindergarten (although Mrs. Katie Wieters was her student-teaching assistant that year)
Velda Becker, 1st grade
Sally Schuler, 2nd grade
Renee Jury, 3rd grade
Joan Dawson, 4th grade
Cecilia Weller, 5th grade

All of the above teachers taught at Chapman Elementary, a school I went to during most of my childhood. Sadly, that school was destroyed by a tornado in June 2008, along with the middle and high schools and a great portion of Chapman.)
