Taking average maintenance and driving style into account, how long and/or how many miles will a typical Lexus CT200h last until breakdown?

I would keep some money aside for the head gasket replacement. Once you feel a rough start get it done ASAP. Just did my CT and my 2010 Prius. Same platform. Luckily I can do the work myself but it’s bound to happen to every CT or Prius on the road. My CT failed at 190k and my Prius at 180k

I use my OBD2 reader running off my iPhone. I honestly wouldn’t worry too much. Just keep that in mind for when you do exhibit that rough start up. It’ll clack really loud and misfire for just 2-3 seconds upon startup then clear up.

Better to be prepared mentally then have it come up unexpectedly

Did you replace the EGR system?

I did complete cleaning. No need to buy new. I even installed an oil catch on the Prius. Still the head gasket failed.

Watch the video in the comment above. For a long time I thought the EGR was the only culprit but it comes down to the material of the OEM gasket as well.

What year is it? If its 2015+ then you don't really have to worry about the ERG/Head Gasket issue. Now saying that these little cars can easily go 300k miles or more. And if you do run into and issue with the engine you could always swap in a used JDM one for cheaper than a new car.

That’s not true. All models suffer failure.

Was there some change in the post 2014 models to address the head gasket issue?

I'm not exactly sure what they changed but they updated the ERG system in the 2015+ to fix the headgasket issues.

Headgasket usually shows around 110-135k
