To all you delivery drivers out there - what would happen if you got a call to deliver to an address in EAST St. Louis?

It's just across some bridges, but looking into East St. Louis may be like looking into a possible dystopian future of an America whose government has since collapsed into anarchy.

But if your restaurant was called to deliver pizza, some Chinese, or some other meal to an address in East St. Louis, how would you handle it? I don't suppose they give you bulletproof vests, do they?

Don't most places have a limited delivery area? I doubt many deliver over the river anyway, because they'd probably have to keep a separate set of books for the Illinois taxes and such

As an armed courier, I've been to all the bad places in the St Louis region. I've picked up money in East St Louis, North St Louis and everywhere in between (these days I'm in Chesterfield all day and I fucking love it). For my money (heh) the worst area around isn't ESL, but the north side, especially around Delmar or MLK. The more Family Dollars, the worse the area. Typically the people are nice and polite, but I'd never turn my back on anyone in those areas.
