Ever since watching The Front Line (Gojijeon), Serenade on the Front Line has become my all-time favorite. Had a Korean neighbor (his father was a ROK soldier that died near the end of the war) that instantly recognized the song.

Possibly "Korea, Here We Come" by Harry Choates, it honestly sums up the American people's thoughts on the conflict: We have to fight it, but why? Why did this have to happen again? It's probably one of the saddest war songs I've ever heard that doesn't oppose the conflict (it talks about mothers being utterly devastated about another conflict just five years after World War II, and being the day "we hoped and prayed would never come").

This is a great question.

I think the main reason Vietnam had a "soundtrack" compared to other wars, is that music was a major outlet for protesting the war.

I am struggling to think of a song that might be quite literally about the war being fought at that moment that isn't from Vietnam that entered the American ethos the way it did.
