What say we help the world become aware of the concept of the upcoming Technological Singularity through a movie taking place in the future where said Singularity arrives?

What do you expect to see in such a film and who will the likely actors and actresses be?

Not a movie, but a show called Pantheon. It's on Netflix

It does not reflect the real world 1:1, but the overarching premise is pretty much the same. Particularly season 2.

THIS!!! i love this show sm and it also has a lot of philosophical concepts in the mix. highly recommend watching.

I especially like the vibe of the last few episodes, in terms of "flavor" it's how I expect the singularity to play out.

It’s Anime, most adults don’t watch anime. I got excited for a minute before watching the trailer 😅

Most adults YOU know. And it's not anime. It's just animated.

Lol, what the hell? Tell that to Studio Ghibli, tell that to Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue, Paranoia Agent, Paprika), tell that to the innumerable indie anime movie and show makers targeting every aspect of life and various demographics.

What about Western animated works like Arcane, Invincible, Primal, Scavengers Reign, etc.?

What about some of the classics like Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Fist of the Northern Star, and others?

It's also a fairly silly movie.

transcendence is the closest thing we got even tho the "ASI" there was made stupid on purpose otherwise there would be no plot lol

BTW this movie has been removed from the streaming services (Netflix and so on). It can only be rented

My problem with GITS is how easy they make look hacking and encryption breaking. Also human brains in machine bodies is less likely than full upload. Brains needs a biological support system provided by multiple organs.

It is a visual and story masterpiece however.

I raise you Accelerando. That book does a great job of describing what living before, during, and after the singularity event might be like.

While these are some of my fav books, I always so them as an extrapolation of AR, follow the yellow line all the way...not sure I see singularity there.

Film is a 2D+1 projection of a 3D+1 space and only displays video and auditory info...

The singularity will involve more than that by virtue of the BCI interfaces allowing us to experience reality in more than 3D or in a non-spacetime type of environment (via virtual reality) ... something totally new we have never been able to experience before... not to mention being able to share thoughts, quality, etc

How you gonna show that on screen...? The fact that Interstellar made the attempt to display a realistic 4D object on screen was novel and expensive and noteworthy at the time. What we saw on screen was a flat 2D+1 projection of simulation of a curved 3D+1 spacetime (or a flat 4D+1 spacetime)

Also, you really can't depict a transcendent experience on screen from a first person perspective... you can only show the outside view... this is also apparent while watching someone have a psychedelic or religious/spiritual/samadhi experience on screen. And even these are easier because they eventually end and the person comes back into ordinary default experience... and the Singularity won't necessarily be that way.... it may just go from normal to weird to weirder..

At best we can try to show the effects it may have on people's lives as they live through the early parts of the transition from physical to virtual experience. At some level we see it already through our devices and how we interact with each other... over time... reality and how we interface with it will include more virtual components and the physical substrate it runs on will matter less (except as regards constraints to what can be done in the virtual realm).

I was thinking the same thing

I think the books may be on the YA side of the line but the Sythe trilogy is how I see the singularity. Its those pesky humans that are the real villians.
