I had a weird order - I picked up from a Sonic attached to a truck stop that my customer Mike had his semi parked at.

He didn't realize he could just go inside to order from Sonic himself, so when I arrived and met him, he said he should've just gone and ordered inside, so he doesn't want the delivered breakfast burrito anymore, he'll pick it up as carryout, so to not worry about it, and I can keep it, the $10 tip, and eat it, and that it wasn't my fault.

Has something similar ever happened to you? How did you deal with it?

As long as this doesn't lead to any kind of trouble with Doordash later, I think we'll be golden. What are the chances that trouble will happen later due to this?

Edit: The order is now held for review, so I'll be sure to find out by around 6:30 PM Central tomorrow what the outcome is. What all do they do during the review; how do they review it? And if they assume a violation has occurred, is a deactivation guaranteed or would it just be a contract violation? Or what else would happen?

Or they didn’t want to get dressed and it was cheaper than room service.

Getting dressed and leaving your room is a major burden when you've had a big day and are camping out in your house clothes.

There’s other reasons too. I can think of 2-3 other fairly legit reasons not to want to leave the hotel room 😂

Like walking across the street to McDonald's and someone snitched on you to the FBI after you left a few bullets with words on them in New York?

I ordered DoorDash delivery from a restaurant attached to my apartment building once because I was really sick and didn’t have the energy to make the trip and didn’t wanna risk spreading what I had

[–]ArtisticDegree3915 3 points

Or could have a delivery only coupon.

[–]spicybright 11 points

And people say being too fucked up on drugs to leave the room is bad!

[–]bananatanan 5 points

Not quite the same, but I delivered wings from a restaurant in the same parking lot as the hotel.

[–]Sithstress1 3 points

Same, except mine was Ted’s. I didn’t even get back into my car after I picked it up, I just walked across the parking lot to the hotel 😂.

I hate this app sometimes.

Or a ghost kitchen

His kid was getting punished and definitely didn’t eat dinner lol

[–]ashleiponder 7 points

That's exactly it 🤣 I've left already paid for candy, chips, and other things on gas station counters when mine starts asking for more and starts to throw a fit. He's five. I get gas just about once a week. Sometimes he's with me. Sometimes he's not, but when he is he's able to go in and get a treat. He can pick out pretty much whatever he wants. At that age it sometimes turns into wanting two things or three things. He's allowed to get ONE thing. That doesn't go over so well with him sometimes, so sometimes he gets no things. Then we get in the car and I feel horrible because I said no and his feelings are hurt, but it's good for him in the long run.

Nice work!

I had the same thing happen but an apartment complex, dude met me in his parking lot 😂 prob walked half the distance to the restaurant

[–]jonzilla5000 3 points

Picked up Chinese from a restaurant only to find the delivery was half a block down on the same sidewalk - and he met me outside. I'm guessing he was lonely and wanted to find a friend.

I got in late to a hotel once and looked on DoorDash for something. Saw Wendy’s and decided on it. After I placed the order I saw it was right next door. I opened my blinds and the place was literally right there. That was embarrassing.

[–]EmperorMrKitty 3 points

Bro exact same. $45 for two meals and it was across the damn street. Didn’t realize till we left for the airport the next morning. Wendy’s and DD have some sort of cursed scheme going I swear.

[–]Invisible_Target 5 points

If you’re gonna leave candy in random spots, you can’t be mad when someone takes it. That sounds stupid at

[–]johnmichael0703 3 points

Yeah I don't fully disagree. Any other driver than me would have probably assumed it was a tip ( and I wouldn't assume they were wrong or being malicious)

[–]PandaWeird8666 2 points

I came across the same thing at an apartment. I left it as you did.

[–][deleted] 4 points

It’ll be fresher

I’m a woman & have delivered to truckers parked at random spots like the Wal-mart parking lot a couple times. Kinda weird, but they were fine & tipped well.

[–]Loud_Cloud92 6 points

I understand feeling unsafe and making the choice to unasign the order but is it necessary to let them know all that? They don't know if a man or woman is going to pick up their order! Not everyone on this earth needs to cater to how you feel and your personal opinions. I've heard truckers do this because they can't leave their rig for whatever reason and they can't park everywhere.

[–]jonzilla5000 2 points

She's just letting him know why she cancelled it, seems like a considerate and reasonable thing to do.

[–]Loud_Cloud92 2 points

She isn't just letting them know why she is cancelling. She is trying to educate them and tell them "it's VERY unsafe and uncomfortable for females to take a delivery like this." Like I said before, the customer doesn't get to choose if a male or female picks up their order. Just cancel and move on!

[–]EmperorMrKitty 1 point

Honestly it’s a good thing to hear from women that stuff like this makes them uncomfortable. So much stuff never even crosses my mind as a dude. Would rather not put anyone in that situation and you don’t know till a random lady vents.

[–][deleted] 8 points

I’m a woman, I’ve delivered to semis in truck stops without thinking a thing about it. Maybe I should. Nothing weird ever happened

[–]ForeverOrdinary5059 6 points

Why deliver to anyone's house? What if they kidnap you or worse?

[–]Classic_Ad3987 3 points

Where I used to work we couldn't leave the building until our shift ended, couldn't even go to our car on break. We would order lunch from the sub shop next door and let them know, yes we are next door and yes we need delivery. The delivery guy would look so confused each time we met him at the door.

[–]Surprise_Beautiful 4 points

He was trolling...he was hoping he would get a woman that he could proposition. Happens to me on IC with men all the time. They want the meet the customer option.

[–]Xatamos 3 points

Was probably hoping for a hot hooker to show up and then saw you......lol jk

[–]ashleiponder 3 points

I'm wondering if he did since it's now under review. Something HAD to have been said.

[–]Solomon_Inked_God 1 point

That’s what I’m thinking.

[–][deleted] 2 points

Probably reported it missing so he could try to get his money back and you'll have to explain this and hope dd takes that , your account won't be taken down but you could get a violation and is so many of there's occur then you get deactivated

[–]ashleiponder 1 point

Not necessarily. I've had a CV not show up until the next day even after dashing for several hours after the order I know it came from was delivered.

[–]Solomon_Inked_God 1 point

You’re really gullible. Him calling you bro and fist bumping you means absolutely nothing.

[–]Live_Culture8393 1 point

Dang. I wonder what he said then

[–]After-Dream-7775 1 point

AHAHAHA he was looking for that LOT LIZARD 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

[–]Beginning_Hyena_6404 1 point

Maybe he was actually wanting to check you out and get a person to keep him company but didn’t go thru with it for some reason ? Seems to weird! Lol always a cynic in the crowd huh 😊

[–]ashleiponder 1 point

He had to have said something to DD for it to be under review. It will probably be fine on your end if he was honest. If he hadn't contacted them it would have gone through as a normal completed delivery. Wonder if he just didn't want to tell you that he wanted to cancel it to your face just to be nice and thought that you wouldn't be in trouble if he tried to cancel it afterwards somehow. I don't know how he could have done that other than saying it wasn't delivered or it was the wrong order or something. Maybe it was a stolen card he was trying or something. I could absolutely be wrong, but it's odd that the delivery ended like that and now it's under review.

[–]ashleiponder 1 point

It's weird that that one order showed up as in review though. Something had to have been said about it or maybe even past orders to cause some orders to go under review. They usually don't do that for no reason.

[–]jangsta201 1 point

most likely a contract violation. It'll go away after 100 deliveries.

[–]Conscious-Isopod-393 1 point

Well I'm invested in your story now Please post your outcome

[–]scotto_93631 1 point

Maybe he was smashing a lot lizard?

[–]pf_dynamite 1 point

I had one like that a few months ago. The dash was a Dollar General shopping task for like 10 things and if I remember, it was $10-$15 and it was only going 4 miles or so. And it was all food items too. Get to the drop-off: it's semi truck parked in a Wal-Mart parking lot. So maybe the guy had a gift card, but I just thought what a waste of money

[–]TheRealBlueJade 0 points

I find this somewhat concerning. It doesn't make sense. I'm concerned they were looking for a victim, and you didn't match what they were looking for.

Hopefully, I am completely wrong. I feel this person should be watched/tracked and investigated.

Yes, very awkward. He was in Semi, I had my spouse with me thank goodness. He was parked in the dark. Very uncomfortable situation
