So a user named SFC9394 didn't mind his own business and reverted the IP's blanking of their own talk page. Why didn't the IP user have the right to blank their own talk page? It was THEIRS, not someone else's.

So a user named SFC9394 didn't mind his own business and reverted the IP's blanking of their own talk page. Why didn't the IP user have the right to blank their own talk page? It was THEIRS, not someone else's.

And how would it have harmed SFC9394 to NOT bother that IP user with their reverts? Why couldn't he leave that IP alone? What policy page can you link here that says other users are required to revert the IP users' blanking of their own talkpages, and that these IPs don't have the right to blank their own talkpages? Wouldn't that run contrary to m:Right To Vanish, which has apparently been updated after March 2006 to https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Account_vanishing

Vanishing is not a right or guarantee but rather a courtesy extended to valued contributors who wish to leave.

Did you actually read the link, it mostly talks about how this isn’t a guarantee or right.

Also, what edit are you talking about?

I would imagine their bigoted vandalism of article pages and just plain stupid vandalism of user pages played a role. It was really long ago, I mean, case and point, I was conceived, born, and have voted for President since this happened, so maybe it was different then, but even today talk pages are rarely blanked. I also think you’re not understanding the point of talk pages—to allow discussions that improve the project, and obscuring a known vandal doesn’t really do that.
