Is it really some kind of taboo faux pas to mention race while describing who somebody is? Friendly Redditors, please help. https://imgur.com/gallery/b4eciut

I can mention gender, apparent age, hair color, and other characteristics of someone I describe, but why can't I mention their race these days?

I have ASD, so I'd like to know better, thanks.

This is the best description I've seen. What people have trouble understanding is that most the time it's irrelevant mention physical traits to describe someone.

No. Unless you think the description of being black, white, Asian, Latino, etc is a bad thing which I don't. I'm fine with people saying "the Middle Eastern lady" because I'm a lady and Middle Eastern and neither of those things are insults. When I describe people I try not to describe them by things society deems unappealing like I wouldn't say "oh you mean the guy with horrible acne."

Everything these days seems to be the wrong thing to say.

Not at all, I do the same thing. Visual descriptions are the easiest way to identify someone clearly
