Happy cake day.

[–]technoferal 1 point

I don't recall having the insane ideas. All I really did was fuck up my teeth and learn a foreign language. But I had very different results from my peers with all the drugs I tried; I suspect it has to do with my also exhibiting ASD traits.

[–]1of3musketeers 1 point

Coke brainstorming! And there are never any consequences during those power talks with all of the great ideas so I’m going with coke as well.

[–]JayTheDirty 1 point

And meth too. I’ve heard many of the ideas being implemented talked about by meth heads on the 2nd day of a week bender

[–][deleted] 1 point

Yes, but in the light of day we would all laugh about how stupid we were, we wouldn’t go out and give the Coke ideas to the world

[–]aggressive_seal 6 points

That's probably not too far off the truth...

It worked out pretty well for Australia. Maybe we’ll get a new country out of it, it’ll be the 6 eyes instead of the 5 eyes.

Have to start with Trump.

In a way it’s almost like the British forced a hardier evolution of their people by leaving them stranded on an island where everything is trying to kill you and seeing who survives to pass on their genes.

Probably why I’ve seen so many Aussies basically act like Florida man but with an accent and usually more successful at not getting mutilated

[–]technoferal 2 points

I'm kind of intimidated by the notion of a successful Florida Man. The kind of Darwinism defiance could easily result in world domination.

[–]69mmMayoCannon 2 points

Exactly. Imagine an army of motherfuckers like Steve Irwin. Jumping on all kinds of dangerous animals with a smile on his face and getting away with it.

Then again they lost a war to emus so I’m not exactly sure where to stand on it other than theorycrafting

[–]technoferal 2 points

This is why I reddit. I hadn't heard of that, and googling it has really made my morning better. Thanks, kind stranger.

[–]69mmMayoCannon 2 points

Haha yeah no problem, it’s my favorite fun fact because of how insane of a scenario it is to have happened in real life.

The even funnier thing is, if you look up the old Wikipedia page for it, the description is hilarious. It literally lists out the same type of info there was for other recorded wars on Wikipedia, like showing the combatants on each side, number of casualties, commanding officers etc right under the picture in the upper right they usually have with each article. I don’t think it’s written like that anymore but it was funny when it was still setup like that.

Edit: wait I think I found it here it is lmao

I never heard, what was his sentence for those crimes?

[–][deleted]

[deleted]

[–]edhead1425 8 points

I'm not sure what that means. Any fines? Clearly no jail time.

[–]QING-CHARLES 14 points

Literally nothing except a criminal record.

[–]_Godless_Savage_ 18 points

Which is crazy when you think about it. You can’t get a federal job with a felony on your record, but you can be the president of the whole fucking thing.

[–]Additional_Tea_5296 4 points

Many places check your criminal background when you're hired. I don't work for the government and I wouldn't have been hired if I was a felon.

This mother fucker is going to burn and something new has to arise from the ashes left behind. We’re going to keep on going with the status quo. [–]_Godless_Savage_ 9 points

What do you mean? All 34 counts he was found guilty on made it 34 separate felonies. Look it up, 34 is a lot to try to remember.

[–]akOOch 7 points

One was violating campaign finance laws

[–]_Godless_Savage_ -4 points

Forget all that… the fact that the special prosecutor and his whole team resigned and dropped their insurrection case against him is a way bigger deal. The reality is any type of punishment he would have seen from the 34 felonies would have been fines. It’s white collar crime, doesn’t really mean shit most of the time.

[–]Striking_Spot_7148 2 points

“Forget all that” and there is the problem.

[–]_Godless_Savage_ -1 points

No sir, the problem is you failing to acknowledge a single word after that. You’re hung up on the potatoes and completely ignoring the steak. That’s a huge fucking problem.

[–]1of3musketeers 1 point

I think the issue we all have is that the standard is different for him compared to the average Joe and it shouldn’t be. There is a reason his crimes weren’t classified as misdemeanors. And a reason they weren’t reduced for a plea deal. Our justice system is a misnomer.

[–]_Godless_Savage_ 1 point

It’s pay to play. No money? Then fuck you.

[–]Striking-Dark-222 1 point

[–]Bigdumb_face 1 point

You’re arguing with people that can’t keep from breaking the law no matter how hard they try.

[–]falconinthedive 1 point

They're not asking, they're just feigning ignorance so they can troll in bad faith.

[–]Spiritual_Cold5715 1 point

You cannot argue with people who don't participate in reality. The arguments and mental gymnastics from these people is absolutely insane. There is no sense anymore. It's absolutely astounding.

[–]_Godless_Savage_ 1 point

They’re good for keeping your wits sharpened.

[–]Fit_Cucumber4317 -13 points

Yes it was a politically-motivated affair to begin with and a dishonest use of the law to bootstrap charges to elevate to felony. It'll be overturned on appeal.

[–]Superdooperblazed420 1 point

Election fraud for paying of stormy Daniel's not to talk. It was stupid and purely political, every politician has done shit like thrump, they are all guilty. I don't like even like thrump but people act like this stuff isn't going to swing around and bite them in the ass.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

If they have all done it, they should all be prosecuted for it IF there is evidence...that's the difference between trumpers and everyone else...everybody wants their politicians held accountable EXCEPT MAGA....

"Both sides" is a piss poor argument that only those arguing in bad faith use...because it just shows you're more interested in covering for your team than actually discussing the problem.

He's a convicted criminal, rightfully so.

[–]No-Test-5594 1 point

Basically the crime was 34 seperate payments to his accountant who was making hush money payments on his behalf. They took the 34 seperate payments as Trump trying to "conceal" the hush money payments, and labeled it as falsifying buisness records and slapped a felony sticker on it. It should be noted that hush money payments are not a crime. It should also be noted that no one has ever been charged with this crime prior to this. It should also be noted that this was not a federal crime and the person who charged him didn't even have jurisdiction.

There is a reason he recieved nothing in sentencing. It was a smoke and mirror trial to begin with.

[–]briko3 1 point

You can't use campaign funds to do it. They proved he knew that and did it anyway by showing he broke up payments and tried to hide it. That's the intent part. He didn't receive anything because he's the president. What he most likely would have received had he not been reselected is a fine.

[–]shwoggity 1 point

Nothing he's a rich white man.

[–]Fit_Cucumber4317 -5 points

[–]Icreatedthesea 0 points

That's not what that person was asking, although it is funny that one group divides themselves into "lightskin" and "darkskin" and that's no problem but go the other direction and it's the most racist thing imaginable. Very cute

[–]shwoggity 0 points

Lmao both of my parents are white as can be.

Seems a little racist you asking that.

[–]PicaPaoDiablo 1 point

To assume someone is Black bc they make a "white man" reference is a bit clueless.

[–]Fit_Cucumber4317 1 point

I didn't say they were black nor did I assume that. You're just another racist.

[–]PicaPaoDiablo 1 point

This is a cute game you've got going but what exactly have I said or done that's racist? Who am I racist against exactly?

[–]Fit_Cucumber4317 1 point

You falsely assumed I assumed the person was black, without evidence. Sounds like a racist assumption on your part. Funny some how I am the one playing games here.

[–]Visual_Dog_8098 -3 points

It means that the people behind the charges just want to be able to call him a felon.

[–]SnooRevelations979 1 point

Which he clearly is.

[–]CoBludIt 1 point

Just calling it like it is

[–][deleted]

[deleted]

[–]ballskindrapes 2 points

It was absolutely a felony...hence the charges.....campaign finance violations.....you can't pay someone for something, saying it was one thing, when it was another.....in some cases, like this one, it is a felony...basic stuff huddy.

Nothing was framed. You clearly don't care to understand how civil cases work....or how anything works....he raped a lady...pure and simple....he also rape his ex wife....he also was involved in a criminal case for raping a child, and his codefendant was epstein....

[–]Bigdumb_face 1 point

Campaign finance violations are misdemeanors my guy.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

Ok. He committed some felonious actions to be charged with felonies....

Prove those are misdemeanors?

[–]Bigdumb_face 1 point

He was never charged with any felonies. The media and Jack Smith can call it a felony all they want, but the charges were never filed as felonies. He was charged with campaign finance violations. The judge upgraded them to felonies. Trump will appeal and win. I have a few felons in my family, and the ones that can never accept responsibility for their actions also don’t like Trump. Almost like they’re mad at themselves but would rather lash out at someone else. It’s quite laughable at this point. I guess I’d be upset too if I was over 50 and I couldn’t get my shit together and had to steal cars and victimize the general public and blame the president for all of it.

The childishness of the phrase TDS is astounding. I can't believe grown adults use it, or don't do basic fact checking....

They dont have to believe me...just objective facts and reality....which shows trump was rightfully convicted, and is a rapist and traitor to this country.

It's undeniable.

[–][deleted]

[deleted]

[–]fit2betide 1 point

He’s right, your symptoms indicate TDS. Best course of action is to leave the Reddit echo chamber immediately. Stop playing Fortnight and hit the gym.

[–]Competitive_Boat106 1 point

Luckily the truth doesn’t need you in order to be the truth. Trump uses everyone and everything for his own benefit, then discards them like trash. Maybe once your life is also shattered you will finally realize how many people were trying to help you see the truth in time. Maybe not. But what you label as TDS is really millions of people trying to get you to help yourself before it’s too late.

[–]InsanityLurking 1 point

Tds is fake news. And 48.5 percent of the 60 percent that voted is not most. That's less than 30 percent of the whole country buddy. Your in a cult.

[–]1521 1 point

Most of Americans does believe the facts. There is a 30% faction, mostly racist types, that think he is innocent despite all the evidence. If you support him at this point you are a traitor, at the very least, as he is actively trying to destroy the country, and you are likely a racist.

[–]Competitive_Boat106 1 point

Try reading the court documents. It’s pretty easy to see the crimes listed. There is nothing illegal about paying someone like he did. If he simply had pulled out his checkbook and signed it himself, there would have been no case. But Trump has no spine. So when it got close to the election, he wanted to ensure that the story would be buried, so he made his lawyer pay the woman, then he paid him back out of the business accounts, then he cooked the books to make those payments look like lawyers fees, including the nearly triple amount he paid the guy in “bonuses.”

This is just as illegal as paying anyone else under the table and lying on paper about what the money was used for. If you paid your buddy $10,000 to do the landscaping at your business, but listed it as a photocopier purchase, you would go to jail. Especially if you went on national television and bragged that not paying your taxes “made you smart.” So sorry, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. You can try to drag all the “liberal drama” into it that you like, but this is a textbook case of business fraud.

[–]blastoffmyass 1 point

yeah, how on earth could the most sued entity after megacorps like big tobacco commit a CRIME?? he’d never!! well, except for his 60yrs of constant legal trouble for fraud, scams, stiffing contractors/vendors, etc…

also apparently all 25+ of those women and girls who accused trump of SA spanning decades are “super lefty females”. does that also include his wife who said that he raped her violently due to pain from his scalp reduction surgery? that was a LOOONG time ago

[–][deleted] 1 point

This is the most Cheeto dust ridden thing I ever read

[–]Waste_Return2206 1 point

His rape case is actually documented. He is liable for sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll. It’s publicly available. The only reason he wasn’t tried for Jan. 6 is because Aileen Cannon, a MAGA operative appointed by Trump, somehow managed to be given the case. She has delayed the case, have it thrown out, and done everything else in her power to protect this jackass because she is politically biased. There is plenty sufficient evidence in the Jack Smith documents to prosecute Trump, but it’s too late now because the case has already been dismissed. You can’t say he is innocent. You can only say he was never tried before a judge and jury for some of his crimes.

[–][deleted] 5 points

The criminal justice system in the US is pay to win. If you can pay you don’t face consequences.

[–]SaabStory04 7 points

The judge gave him no fine, jail time, or probation. It's an "unconditional discharge." Basically exactly what you would expect a rich white man in America to get for pretty much any crime they commit.

[–][deleted]

[deleted]

[–]SaabStory04 1 point

I'll give you that. I do think the victims of the crime play a part though. Bernie Madoff targeted other quite rich people and organizations. Same with Weinstein. Several of his victims are well known in Hollywood.

[–]Important_Win_9375 0 points

Just like Hunter Biden, no jail time no investigation. Remember Reddit is one-sided. Most the people on Reddit think the Dems do no wrong. Echo Chamber should be the name instead of Reddit.

[–]SaabStory04 1 point

That's called a "whataboutism." The existence of another person getting away with something doesn't make it ok. Also (not that it matters) there was certainly an investigation into Hunter Biden and he was even convicted of charges. He was pardoned so will serve no jail time though.

[–]Important_Win_9375 0 points

I didn't say it was OK just that it happens on both sides and Reddit user don't see that.

[–]TK-Squared-LLC 1 point

Yeah, and he was like the most heinous jaywalker ever too.

[–]paraffinLamp -1 points

His “crime” was that he labeled a payment to Stormy Daniels as a campaign finance charge, which is a normal and widely accepted practice in politics. There was years of precedent with no issue until Biden’s admin had to literally make it a felony just so they could charge him. His conviction was politically motivated. This isn’t the same thing as “pretty much any crime” a rich white guy could commit.

But he’s talking about sending repeat violent offenders to penal colonies. It’s extremely badass and would 100% deter violent crime, no matter how rich or white someone is.

[–]Objective-Housing501 4 points

Paying the porn star he was having an affair with 6 figures to keep her from outting him during an election campaign is a normal and widely accepted practice? Which other presidential candidates did this(I'll give you Clinton)?

[–]paraffinLamp 0 points

Admittedly, I don’t know about porn stars, but the practice of paying off people (affairs, etc.) to not badmouth you when you decide to run for office is a widely accepted practice in politics. And it isn’t even a crime to do that. What he was prosecuted on was the technicality of how he labeled the payment.

Also I’m not saying I agree with that practice. I think it’s slimy. But the justice department made the offense a felony just so they could say Trump is a felon. It doesn’t seem fair to me, but even if you thought it was fair, it still doesn’t seem like a penal-colony-worthy type of felony.

[–]DrunkLastKnight 2 points

It is a crime though to use campaign money though for those payments

[–]scooterbug1972 1 point

Laws cannot be passed and then go back and retroactively be applied to actions. If a law was created to specifically target Trump, his lawyers would of brought that up in a motion to dismiss and the judge would of granted it. Nice try though. As for a deterrent, punishment rarely works. You know why? Because most ppl don't think they are gonna get caught.

[–]devilsleeping 6 points

I'm ok with it being a sentence in Iranian prison

[–]renegadeindian 6 points

You deaf? Lol it’s been on the world news he was found guilty on those charges. He just got off on a technicality, he became president so they can not sentence him. That was why he ran.

[–][deleted] 1 point

actually I'm deaf but I can see pretty well

[–]renegadeindian 1 point

Let volt it’s in the newspapers also then. Lol

[–]phunktastic_1 1 point

His sentence was suspended as lo g as he commits no more crimes.

[–]itsatumbleweed 1 point

Sentencing was after the election, and he got sentenced to "I am not going to try and sentence a president elect".

[–]Zutthole 1 point

Way less than someone who wasn't rich and popular would get. If that isn't the American ideal of justice, I don't know what is.

[–]Adorable-Doughnut609 1 point

OJ killed two people and did no jail time. Your sentence says more about your legal team than your guilt or morality.

[–]BerryCertain9873 1 point

He got slapped with the power to pardon HIS felons (and he was handed the nuclear football)! USA! USA!

[–]Illustrious-Gene-558 1 point

Same as Hunter Biden's.

[–][deleted] 1 point

Nothing. None of it was real and will all likely get vacated on appeal.

[–]Accomplished_Mind792 1 point

Weird that he keeps fighting to avoid having to go to appeal since it will be so clear cut s y'all claim.

Why is that?

[–][deleted] 1 point

Where are you getting your (low) information? Let me guess, liberal echo chamber media? Try to rise above that, pal.

He literally appealed it today.

[–]Accomplished_Mind792 1 point

Yes, after fighting the decision in every single way that isn't an appeal. And the case came out in June. So, why has he been fighting it for so long?

As for your ignorant attempt at an insult, it's funny that it doesn't have anything to do with my comment yet you think it does. The lack of intelligence as you attempt to be condescending is fucking hilarious. But that's the right these days. Ignorant and confident

[–][deleted] 1 point

Basically the judge ruled that Trump has been found guilty by a jury but in light of the circumstances of being the President and the nature of Presidential immunity ruled on by SCOTUS his only recourse was to give a sentence where being found guilty was punishment enough.

[–]ODBrewer 1 point

A strongly worded letter in his permanent record.

[–]TK-Squared-LLC 1 point

There wasn't one. Judge said, "You're guilty, but we're not going to do a fucking thing about it."

Where was this judge when I was due for court?

[–]Last-News9937 1 point

Literally nothing.

Literally. Nothing.

[–]SimplySamson 3 points

sorry, presidents cant be charged. :/

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

He wasn't a president when this occurred, so yes, he can be, and rightfully so.

[–][deleted] 1 point

What if trump accidentally virtue signals himself into a jail cell? Lol. He changes a few things about the law here and there and defines himself as a pariah.

[–]Fit_Cucumber4317 1 point

That piece of bad lawfare will be thrown out on appeal.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

Only by a corrupt judge....and i promise you it would be a conservative judge or judges....

It is solid law, and application of the law.

You just prefer trump to be held unaccountable.

[–]Fit_Cucumber4317 1 point

No it isn't. Every single legal analyst pointed to the case being completely novel, let alone that they were trying to peddle a federal election interference case in a state court. The actual federal agency with jurisdiction is the FEC they declined charges.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

Sources?

[–]Fit_Cucumber4317 1 point

They're trying to charge him with interfering in federal elections in a state court. You can't do that. It's not NY's jurisdiction. There is no "solid case law." You made that up.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/opinion-novel-legal-theory-heart-215815701.html

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

There were violations of new yorks laws....the fact it was a federal election doesn't matter for this. The state laws were broken, the state tried him, the state convicted him.

[–]Fit_Cucumber4317 1 point

They accused him of breaking the law to cover up a crime he was neither charged with nor convicted for. You have no idea what you're talking about and you avoided reading that link, very clearly.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

The crime was the payments...they were financially related violations....

Clearly you didn't read your own article.

[–]Suitable-Cap-5556 1 point

No, Nancy needs to be first. Then Hilary. Remember the capitol riot. Remember Benghazi, and remember Bidens with drawl from Afghanistan. All of the military equipment they left there is now in the hands of the Taliban, not to mention Bidens pardons for charges that haven’t even been brought. Trump was convicted of SA without a shred of evidence. No DNA, No tape, nothing. Just on the word of a woman who said it happened. No proof. At least Monica was smart enough to save the dress that Clinton spooged on..

Trumps charges, were trumped up. Most of the American people see that. They see that he was maliciously prosecuted. Politically persecuted, and that’s why people voted for him overwhelmingly.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

You are just spouting lies and proven lies at that, and propaganda..

You clearly don't understand how civil vs criminal trials work, and the difference of the burden of proof between them....

No, he was rightfully convicted. By a jury of his peers.....

People voted for him because they were widely uninformed....the incidences of Google searches for "what are tariffs" spiked after the election....after people had voted for him...they didn't even know what he was promising, and still voted for him....

You are clearly a shill, blocked and reported.

[–]Kirra_the_Cleric 1 point

Maliciously prosecuted? You mean like they did to Hunter Biden?

And, I’d like to point out that trump orchestrated the withdrawal from Afghanistan after he set free 5000 taliban prisoners. So, that’s all on your guy.

[–]stuckinit9deep 1 point

[–]Working-Face3870 1 point

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

Technically, he’s a first timer with 34 charges.

A felon for what? For not filling on a form I’m paying for sex after the statute of limitations expired. And to preface that did Daniels pay taxes on that money or is she a tax cheat I’d like to her to be audited because if it was that much and “secret” between both parties then I bet New York didn’t get there cut and California didn’t get there cut either of that money let alone the feds.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

He said he was paying her for one thing, using campaign funds...it was fraud to do so....he broke the law....

[–]Worth-Humor-487 1 point

It wasn’t campaign funds, this was before he was the president this was when the money was sent to his lawyer. Then the payment later the feds who have more power to look into the mater then the state of New York couldn’t pin that money as campaign money.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

He still committed campaign finance violations, and other violations, as per his conviction.

In you were explaining details, thank you. If you were disputing his convictions, then history will put you right beside the brown shirts

[–]Worth-Humor-487 1 point

Those are BS especially when they have a statue of limitations and they were past the time of being able to be able to be convicted, and the supporting “felony” on the to make said crimes against him rise to felonies isn’t mentioned in the filing of the indictment at all. If you don’t believe me look it up for your self, this isn’t a “brown shirt” moment it’s a actual justice moment because if they are this blatantly obvious and the population is this ignorant of the injustice, because they made a precedent that now when the other side is in power they are going to the same thing to your favored candidate, and it will get really bad.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

Right, all of it is totally true.....

Prove any of what you said, or you are making it up

[–]Worth-Humor-487 1 point

Look it up, if I show you all your going to say i made it blah blah blah. Just please do the due diligence. It’s no difference then when government parties change the rules and the other side says “do you really want to do that,” the other side very confidently “yes what could go wrong we will always be in power”

8 years laters they aren’t in power and the other side is going scorched earth and doing all the things that the other side made easy for them because they thought they would be in power forever.

[–]Research_shows_ 1 point

But that’s not true.

[–]Historical_Golf9521 1 point

I wish we could do that more often. I’m sure if we set politics aside we would probably get along great.

[–]AnswerMeSenseiUwU 1 point

The right to exist is not politics. You want to talk about the national debt and government spending? Great let's talk about it. When an entire government is set to make you a subhuman, second class citizen? Nah were not disagreeing. You're denying a core part of my humanity.

[–]Historical_Golf9521 1 point

The right to exist? Who’s trying to take that away from you? Wouldn’t that mean killing you? What exactly are they doing to make you a “subhuman”?

See when you say this kind of unhinged bull shit nobody takes anything else you say seriously. Then when you have something that’s actually reasonable, it gets overlooked because people associate you with nonsense. Tighten up.

[–]ballskindrapes 26 points

No, they didn't. It was a valid case.

[–]VegasBjorne1 -5 points

He was convicted of paying hush money to a woman in order to “influence an election”— where’s the charges for the numerous New York State congressional members who have done the same? Also deception on Trump’s corporate books. Both misdemeanors, but magically become felonies if combined???

The first law has never been applied in New York State since its inception over 100 years ago, but only when it came to Trump? It has all the signs of an abuse of the legal system to target a political enemy.

I didn’t want Trump to run again, and hoped he would lose in the primaries, but Harris was a hot mess of an alternative.

[–]Ecstatic-Run-9767 5 points

Falsifying business records is a class e felony by itself (if in the first degree, misdemeanor if in the second degree) in New York and many people have been convicted of it.

https://www.justsecurity.org/85605/survey-of-past-new-york-felony-prosecutions-for-falsifying-business-records/

[–]VegasBjorne1 -1 points

But that’s not what I said. I’m sure plenty of people have been convicted of falsifying business records and Trump’s charges separately were misdemeanors.

[–]ballskindrapes 1 point

I'm sure if you read the law, it isnt "magically"....not how reality works buddy.

It did influence the election though....he might have received less support if his awful excuses of human being followers knew he was a cheater.....textbook definition of influencing an election....attempting to withhold information that might hurt his chances....and campaign finance violations....not hard to grasp.....

If you have evidence of other members of the politcal class doing similar things, as you claim....please share it here and with the feds, they would love to prosecute democrats right now....somehow I think you won't though....

Your shirt is suspiciously brown....

[–]VegasBjorne1 1 point

“Influence an election” so let’s press charges against those politicians who hire campaign managers? What’s their function? Oh yeah, bury embarrassing information and influence elections??? I had a family member who for decades did exactly that handling hundreds of political campaigns on the State and Federal level.

I have personally known House and Senate members who paid hush money, especially when one fathered a child! It wasn’t considered a crime, but a personal matter and to keep from the public. You act, as if, Trump was some highly unusual individual when he was just another wealthy man who (allegedly) paid hush money to keep a former mistress from going public.

The absurdity of tying the falsification of business records to the improper influencing of an election (hush money) with the intended purpose to combine two misdemeanors, and transforming them into felonies made this not a judicial prosecution, but the political persecution of an adversary.

Think about an average person involved in a misdemeanor scuffle, but the police find multiple misdemeanors during the event and now it’s a felony? People would be rightfully outraged in the abuse of authority to take a minor situation and make it a felony, unless the accused name is “Trump”.

[–]ballskindrapes 0 points

There are right ways and wrong ways to do things...this is basic, child level stuff....you can't produce alcohol without a licenses in many areas, or you can lobby bit not bribe politicians....basic stuff you turnip.

I'm sure if you read the laws, your conspiracy about breaking the law magically becoming a felony falls apart....

You just want to cover and lie for a rapist and traitor, no matter how evil that is....What does that say about you?

[–]VegasBjorne1 1 point

Trump's mother was an immigrant from rural poverty who arrived in a wave of Scottish emigrants. She worked as a housekeeper and servant. She originally came on a temporary visa, and stayed. [–][deleted] 3 points

It actually has a lot to do with politics because this administration wants to punish political opponents as harshly as possible. “Repeat offender criminals” may as soon mean you have been arrested at two protests.

[–]Suitable-Cap-5556 -1 points

What about California trying to make it a crime to use the wrong pronouns with a Trans person? Isn’t that taking it a step too far. [–]Low_Land4838 8 points

[–]Open_Mortgage_4645 4 points

That would be a clearcut violation of the 8th Amendment. He doesn't seem to get that as president he has no authority to overturn the Constitution.

[–]Banana_Ranger 2 points

bUt tHe cOnStItUtIoN iS uNcOnStItUtiOnAl

[–]QING-CHARLES 1 point

The conditions would have to be pretty rotten to violate the 8th Amendment (it really doesn't offer much protection as long as you get fed something and not beaten).

I feel like it should somehow violate due process in some way, but I'm not sure, even with years of constitutional litigation under my belt. States routinely house inmates in other states for practical and cost reasons (e.g. Hawaii houses people in Arizona I think).

If you are a foreign citizen, you can often do your time for a crime committed in the USA in your native country, under a prisoner agreement the USA has, but this is slightly different to that.

[–]Open_Mortgage_4645 2 points

The 8th Amendment isn't only about conditions and the nature of the punishment. Adjudication and penalties are the domain of the trial court. Once someone had been sentenced and satisfies their punishment, they cannot be punished further on some arbitrary basis by the president. Let alone a punishment that requires that they be exiled from the country of which they are a citizen.

[–]ThrowawayMonster9384 1 point

How exactly does the 8th amendment protect prisoners from being exiled to a prison outside the country?

It seems up for interpretation that may or may not be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

There are certain criminals I wouldn't mind being imprisoned elsewhere, however it sets a bad precedent and may include low level crimes eventually.

[–]paraffinLamp 1 point

The 8th amendment doesn’t protect criminals from being imprisoned outside the U.S.

The cruel and unusual part would definitely be debatable, but I imagine it working as a bid system and the U.S. sending the prisoner to the lowest bidder, which would probably be the worst kind of country. This strategy would be intended to deter repeat violent offenders.

I feel you on that last bit, too. The question of who this would apply to would need to be set in stone. I personally feel like it should apply only to people who would otherwise be facing death row or life in prison. And nobody else.

[–]Open_Mortgage_4645 1 point

If the law allowed such an adjudicated penalty, and that law survived a Supreme Court challenge, then it would be the sentence of the court, and not an external punishment imposed outside the court. One could imagine legality in such a circumstance. But if the crime called for an extended sentence of exile, why wouldn't a life sentence be applied? It doesn't really make sense given that we already have penalties up to and including life for crimes that warrant that. The exile part secondary to the adjudicated punishment is what would conflict with the 8th Amendment.

[–]Banana_Ranger 2 points

Executive authority, of course!!! /s

[–]Alternative-Dream-61 2 points

This makes sense. Private prisons could make way more money off prisoners if we housed them in a foreign country where they can hire cheaper guards and give them even worse living conditions.

[–]wlcoyote 2 points

Oh. Perfect. We take over Greenland and turn it into a penal colony, ship our “undesirables” over there and have them work the mines.

Native Greenlanders become the island’s new aristocracy and don’t have to work anymore because they get free American indentured servants to work for them, so that shuts them up.

We get to offload our prison population and get natural resources.

People here toe the line because they’re afraid of being sent to the cold island to labor until they die.

You set up an escape from NY type prison area for the ones who refuse to work the mines and just toss them in there and then televise them starving and raping and killing each other on national television as entertainment for the masses and a reminder of the consequences of nonconformity.

Win-win-win-win-win. We’ll get soooooo tired of winning.

I could see it making sense though if the parent’s were criminals in other ways than just occupying space illegally. If they dropped an anchor baby here, and the child wants to stay with their parents, let em go along for the ride. Breaking up a family is wrong so it makes sense to deport the whole family. Of the kids can stay and the parents can go.

He means anybody that’s disloyal. If you don’t think the goal is to depopulate the country from those immigrants and anybody who’s not actively voting Republican, i’ll have what you’re having.

There are all sorts of laws coming to criminalize pushing back against him.

[–]Wtfjushappen 1 point

I dint know, could send them to some country where it costs a third compared to united states. That's also possible going to dryer criminals from being criminals because who the fuck wants to go to jail in Venezuela or Brazil? Holy fuck in gonna get a lawyer and make sure i never break the law if that's a possibility.

felons cannot vote

[–][deleted] 1 point

Felons can vote in most states. Most states have stipulations like not being currently incarcerated or being incarcerated within the last 5 years, has completed sentencing including paroles, probations, and paying off fees, and depending on the state what kind of crime was committed.
