Look man, good on you for working to better yourself, but based on this post and your subsequent comments: holy fuck, please get into therapy, if you aren’t already. Coming from a fellow bidet enthusiast, spending 30-60 minutes using a bidet is insane, and the compulsive attachment to your phone sounds like it’s at a pretty unhealthy level.
And the comment about jerking off straight into his boxers and then wearing them…
Holy shit, I missed that one. Yeah, get into therapy immediately and figure out what happened in your life that brought you to this.
And he works for door dash?! If I ever used that service and found out a guy that showers once every 3-5 days and jerks off in his currently worn undies delivered my food, I think I would, at the very least, lose my appetite for whatever it is I just ordered. The really unhygienic and gross to be around food like that.
Yeah thank you kindly sir/ma'am for pointing this out.
You just gave me a harsh realization that these people walk among us, and not even your deliveries are safe.

Showering every day can be very bad for your skin. Its really just dependant on the individual
I am the 1% lmao. I’m a dude, I can sweat all day and I dont stink after changing clothes and putting on some deodorant. I used to be paranoid about showering so I would shower at least once a day but multiple partners have told me I don’t stink even after a week with no shower so now I take one every 5-7 days now unless I get absolutely filthy.
Edit: I do get dirty especially in the summer so it averages to about one every 2-3 days. I also soak in a tub. I promise I’m not a smelly neckbeard. Most people are shocked when I tell them how long it’s been since I showered and I get comments on how nice I smell all the time. Still shower more than I do, I should probably shower more than I do. I’m the exception not the rule.
Sure.

Yes I’ve worked closely around people, including women, and asked to make sure I didn’t smell after not showering for a while and they said no. I was super paranoid about it so I wanted to make sure my partner wasn’t just nose blind to me.
I’ve also hooked up with people after working a shift and working out and they just say I smell like nothing. If I take a shower, wash, condition, put product in my beard and hair, and put on deo/cologne people won’t stop saying how good I smell for like two days.
There’s definitely a limit for me and I will stink eventually and people should just shower because I am definitely the exception and not the rule.
Idk why you’re getting downvotes I’m actually the same way. But if I’m seeing people even in a friendly capacity I shower usually the day of. I’ve of course tried not showering and even one of my OCD ex’s couldn’t tell if I had or not unless I told her and we lived together. But you gotta get rid of the germs and bacteria you find in life with showers dude.
I had an ex like this. He never smelled bad, EVER. But showering isn’t just about killing body odour. There are other reasons to shower, dude.
Once a week is heinous lmao. Did your partners plural know that? How were you having sex with a dirty dick?
Lmao I wash my body or at least my dick before sex for sure especially if it’s a hookup and like I said if I get dirty with mud, dirt, grease, or grime I take a shower.
Separate longer term partners throughout the years have commented on how I don’t stink even after sweating or not showering. I’m paranoid about it so I’ve asked and pressed them to be honest.
Lol ok. You seem pretty adamant, so I’ll leave it at this: you have a major blind spot. Germs, especially from using the bathroom. Hope you don’t die of Hep A or adenovirus 😐
This is how you give women a UTI. Nasty. Idk if you smell or not good hygiene is not just for you it’s for people around you. Like I shower once a day, sometimes I skip if it’s a lazy day but I can see if someone goes two days it’s not completely unheard of but dude no showering? Gross
You fucking stink dude
Smelly or not that is extremely gross
Bidet? Isnt that the thing that sprays your ass? This is for showers. Im so confused
Unrelated to the shower - OP also left a comment in here saying that he regularly used a bidet for 30-60 minutes at a time. There’s… a lot going on here.
thats very concerning. :(

Damn, that's crazy.
Don't remember asking.
Ok, tell that to my job.
As a construction worker, I follow one simple Rule: If I sweat, at all, I will change my clothes at the next opportunity and take a shower at the next opportunity. (Max 2 times a day)
If tracking helps you, then keep it up. Otherwise you might find this easier as a guideline.
Improvement is improvement.
But:
10 min shower every day > 30 min shower every 4 days.
Brush your teeth twice a day, every day.
4 days between showers ain’t it
Sure, but it's better than a week which is better than a month.
Which is better than a year but then reaches diminishing returns of betterment.
Sure like being a cannjbal is better than being a cannibal who also murders
Doesn’t matter. Once every 4 days is gross
I’m a shower every day person but I work out and sweat daily. If you’re in a cold place and not doing that, you can go a few days and be good. It’s actually healthier to do so for your skin.
Idk, I don’t work out often/sweat daily, but I can’t comfortably get into bed without washing the day off me. Perhaps if you don’t leave the house at all, I could understand. And it’s snowing here, but I still will shower daily, ESPECIALLY people who don’t clean themselves with soap and water after they use the bathroom
I used to shower every day but i have genetically really dry skin and problems with my scalp, it made my skin so red and brittle that i could rip chunks off. Now i only take hoe showers with water and shower properly every 2-3 days. My skin is doing better
I live in a cold place tho. Any warmer and i would hate it
Better than a full week between showers. I used to shower only once a week until 2020.
Keep at it OP, eventually you'll get there.
Definitely an improvement. What keeps you from wanting to shower? I love the heat and the steam.
I used to not shower sometimes because I didnt want to have to wash my hair, now I'll just do a quick body rinse/soaping when I'm a little ripe. I do 1 shower every 2 days if I dont work out, but wash my hair and full shower once every 4 months. There is also a lot of good points about the no-poo method (not using shampoo).
Anyway, someone said that keeping lists and spreadsheets help give us the sense of having control, so kudos on taking control and making change.
Not OP but my guess would be depression.
Yep. Also having a filthy bathroom and no clean clothes because you are depressed.
You really should be rinsing at least once a day to wash your ass. Even if you have a bidet, you need to clean with a little soap every day.
It's always good to try and improve your habits and lifestyle. I must admit, 4 days in between showering might be pushing it though. If you are having trouble keeping on top of it, I would recommend assigning a specific day of the week that you shower as opposed to "It's been X days since I last took one" most sources online recommend two to three showers a week so maybe make Monday, Wednesday, Friday the days you take a shower for instance.
I don’t care what the sources say, I don’t understand how a statement that says shower 2-3 times a week isn’t being downvoted into oblivion
Three times a week is pretty much every other day, what's the problem with that?
You know how sometimes when you walk by someone and they stink? Do you think those are the people that shower everyday or every three days?
"getting on top of it" it's showering FFS, it's not hard.
It’s not hard for you, but it’s not easy for everyone.
You really need to expand your world then if you don't think there are people out there realistically struggling with these mundane things. That's how hard life is for a lot of people - even doing the basic things to take care of yourself and keep yourself alive and healthy can be seemingly insurmountable.
-by u/shorrrno the man with no empathy or understanding of mental illness
Man, just wake up in the morning and when you go to pee turn the shower on. It’ll feel great.
I’m sorry, but that’s 5 years ago. It’s great, that you want to change, but if upping the shower/week takes 5 years, then it’s just too slow. With that rate you’ll be 10/15 years older, when you shower once a day
You’re doing much better. Habits don’t change overnight, and 4 days is a hell of a lot healthier than 7. When you rush these things, it can backfire—you’ll be good, good, and then you’ll crash. (Same with fad diets.)
Remember, taking baby steps is how we all learned to walk. Keep up the good work :)
Nah mate, there's no excuse not to be showering daily. Everyone praising or saying "it's better than X" is delusional. It's just plain bad, there's no reason you can't give 5 minutes a day to just fucking shower.
If you know going from once a week to every four days is an improvement, why haven’t you moved to every 2 days or daily already? What is stopping you from showering every day?
Not op but don't judge people's progress even if it is seemingly slow, depression, body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria, and I'm sure plenty of other issues could make it hard to shower/bathe oneself.
Sometimes - when it comes to "private" bathroom stuff especially - people simply don't get the level of training many of us are accustomed to, that's kinda what I'm getting here. The negativity likely doesn't help I agree, especially since op is obviously working on it
You chose to read judgement into my question. I asked out of pure and sincere curiosity and I think it shows in my reply to their reply. I suspected there was something else going on besides just not showering enough and I was curious about the progress and the real reason behind it.
All that being said, I agree that we shouldn’t judge without knowing the whole story and I also apologize to OP if they felt my question was judgy.
I like not being separated from my phone. Also, even if there was a way to somehow waterproof my phone in order to prep it for showers, the hot water would still run cold after just 20 to 30 minutes in the winter time. I would love a tankless water heater so that the hot water never runs cold, but that kind of decision is up to my property manager.
Wow, buddy, you have problems much bigger than not showering often enough… being so addicted to a device that you can’t leave it for 20 minutes a day is very worrying. I don’t know where you live but I highly encourage you to seek professional help. I’m sure you know that “liking not being separated from your phone” is a serious problem! If it affects your personal hygiene, I don’t doubt it also affects other parts of your life.
And, by the way, showering for 20+ minutes is unnecessary and bad for the environment. You can easily have a quick 5 minute shower everyday where you wash yourself quickly. This also helps with your phone addiction issue as you won’t be away from the phone for too long
Dude. Take shorter showers, and jack off somewhere else. It shouldn’t take you more than about five minutes to get clean, maybe seven or eight if you’re washing your hair. Ten if it’s really long hair.
Wait. You are washing your hair, right?
Anyway, you can fit five days worth of showers in one of the ones you are taking now. Plus, you’ll be away from your phone for a shorter period of time!
Wait. You are washing your hair, right?
Yes, I always wash my hair with a 3-in-1 body wash during every shower.
and jack off somewhere else.
I haven't figured out how to jack off standing up. I always do it in bed, and then I just ejaculate straight into my boxers or funderwear. I have never once jacked off in the shower, because I haven't figured out how to do it right while in there.
I believe the main reason why I take longer in the shower is because I also floss and brush my teeth in there.
If he's going 3 days without a shower he needs a bath. Gotta soak off all that dead skin.
OP take a bath and rinse off after instead of 20 to 30 minute showers.
Just put on some music or a podcast through the phone speakers while you shower, and leave it nearby so you can listen while you shower. That can help keep you entertained even during a longer shower, it's what I do.
You can get waterproof phone holders for your shower. They get the job done pretty well. Not a huge fan of Amazon but if you search "shower phone holder" a bunch should come up, otherwise if you're in the US, bed bath and beyond or Walmart/target might have them. If you have access to your hot water heater, then you might want to turn the heat on it up a little (too hot and the hot water could burn you). Then you need less hot water to hold a comfortable temperature and take longer to run out.
I will look up those shower phone holders sometime to at least see what they look like, and then possibly order one at some point.
Also, just so you know, Bed Bath & Beyond is going out of business.
You can knock out a shower in like seven minutes man. Get in, scrub the hairy parts, shampoo and out. Just do that every morning. It’s over in a jiffy, helps wake you up and keeps you smelling good.
You should definitely wash more than the hairy parts.
I can’t wrap my head around this, it’s not like you’re trying to lose weight here. Shower daily I guarantee you fucking stink badly and just don’t notice it anymore. Just, turn on the water, and step in. Maybe take 5 minutes away from your weird butthole massage sessions and just clean off. It’s fuckin weird and gross dude grow up.
Hes trying dawg
If you’re going out places, it’s best to shower every 2-3 days max depending on how much you sweat and what you’re doing. Gym or physical labour like construction? Might have to up it to daily or every other day at least. And obviously using antiperspirant and deodorant. If you’re significantly disabled like me though, it’s only every 3-4 days because it takes me hours to prepare and hours to shower. But I always shower the day before I leave the house, and always use antiperspirant and deodorant.
I do this only when I am depressed. I only shower every other day (use body wipes and dry shampoo in between) usually except in the summer where I shower twice a day. 4 days is too much. That's when I wake up and can smell myself. My head itches and I just feel like shit.
I can see myself keeping this log when my depression acts up. But I have ADHD and my sense of time is way off.
Therapy and a psychiatrist is a good idea though.
if u learn how to be quicker u might be eager to do it more often. what exactly takes u 35 minutes
what exactly takes u 35 minutes
Needing to floss and brush my teeth in the shower as well.
Do you only floss and brush your teeth in the shower or is that something you do everyday?
Currently, I only do so in the shower, but as soon as the u-shaped Autobrush arrives, I may be more motivated to use that one every single day, over the sink.
It could make it easier to take showers regularly if you are separating it from other activities like brushing. Def brush/floss twice a day, 30 seconds is better than nothing, doesn’t need to be crazy.
Seriously, get some therapy. You should be showering at least once a day and brushing your teeth twice a day. You may not feel gross but believe me, everyone around you can smell you.
Showering 'at least once a day' isn't necessary for everyone, if they are not getting sweaty and don't get greasy hair or stinky pits that quickly.
I shower every other day (I never leave it longer than that, and I shower on the in-between days too if I've gotten sweaty or been on public transport etc) and I'm fine. I've been doing it this way my whole life. I use deodorant, and wash my face and privates daily. But a full-on shower is simply unnecessary every single day and can even contribute to dry skin in susceptible people.
It's not helpful to shame people who are already struggling to shower at all by telling them they need to shower daily. It's more likely to just put them off, since they'll have no 'relief' days where they don't need to do this specific task. For me, my executive dysfunction makes showering very difficult, but I do it every other day anyway because feeling unclean is even worse. I would absolutely struggle if I had to do it every day because I would be constantly thinking about it coming up.
TL;DR: Many people do not in fact need to shower every single day. People should not go multiple days without showering, but every two days is fine for a lot of people who are not getting dirty/sweaty/smelly (and yes, I do have people who would tell me if I stink, and they never ever have! Every two days is perfectly fine for me.)
U shaped brushes are not effective at removing plaque.
Just buy an electrical tooth brush and hold it for two minutes
That’s gross. Brush your teeth every day I’m sorry but seriously. Fine if you were raised a certain way but as an adult you should learn basic hygiene
Why does flossing, brushing, and bathing take 30min tho?
Brushing your teeth + flossing should take less than 8 min. What are you doing with that other 27 minutes that’s crazy
My showers are nearly always 45 minutes to an hour because my hair
is very long, thick, and wavy. A “quick” shower for me is 30 minutes.
So, he could have long hair.
I also daydream a lot in the shower, and I reflect on things, think up ideas, and recall memories. So it could be that, too.
You might have touch o’ the ‘tism
What are you trying to say here?
They just mean that people with autism can often have issues with showering and need to keep an organized log like this.
I was diagnosed with Asperger's in 5th grade (since renamed to ASD.)
I was rediagnosed to Schizotypal Personality Disorder in 2010 and had some more rediagnoses since then, but my therapist believes I am still on the spectrum.
My mental health med is the 6-month Invega Hafyera. It's made me more level-headed than ever before.
That's great that you've found meds that help. It's also great that you've made steps to keep on top of your hygiene with this log. I know it's not easy sometimes, especially for anyone on the spectrum or with any type of mental illness.
That you might have a touch of the tism
So you can sit on a bidet for 30 minutes but can't shower daily? Showers don't need to be 30+ minutes of skin destroying luxury, just get in soap yourself up, scrub yourself and get out. One 5 minute shower a day would massively improve your hygiene over sitting on a god damn bidet for 30 minutes and showering once a week. You need genuine help, probably from a therapist
The reason why I sit on a bidet attachment for 30 minutes or longer is that I can still operate my phone at the same time. I can't operate my phone in the shower. However, I do have a Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom, so I play either music or audio lectures from my phone, through that speaker, while I shower.
In fact, this was the YouTube music playlist that I played to cheer me up while I was showering just this last night: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL78665FC1F7E9ED5D&si=koG3wmB8VxLjh-pI
Musical Treasures from childhood can definitely improve the showering experience.
You don't need to operate your phone in the shower my brother. You clearly have phone addiction, I understand and I'm bad for it myself. But pick a few songs you like, connect them to your Bluetooth speaker and challenge yourself daily to get showered and out before those 2 or 3 songs finish. You do not need to spend so long showering and so long between showers, it should be a little part of your morning routine that you do daily. I wouldn't be showering daily either if I spent nearly 40 minutes in a shower, that's insane.
On a day at work I'll have a morning shower and a evening shower. If I've been to the gym or for a run, I'll shower at the end of that and skip the evening one. They're never more than 6-8 minutes long.
If it's a day I've worked from home, or a day off then one is enough. I'm a sailor, so we live in close quarters with each other. I can promise you now, the ones who don't shower daily are sniffed out extremely quickly and bullied mercilessly. It has zero toleration, because we live on top of each other and nothing but high standards of cleanliness is necessary. I'm only saying this because I'm trying to tell you that people can smell when you haven't showered, even if you're nose blind to your own smell. Not showering and then spraying axe body spray over yourself is a nauseating concoction that makes me physically gag and it's avoided with a 5 minute ritual in the morning that you can easily do.
Either this is a joke and I’m not getting it but I don’t get why no one is telling you this is fucking weird and you should shower and floss every day and brush your teeth twice a day
and all because he can't be away from his phone for a few minutes
Seriously. Disturbing stuff. Can we stop acting like it’s normal it’s fucking gross.
Depression and ADHD can make it incredibly difficult to maintain a hygiene routine. It’s not being “gross”, for some people it’s a genuine struggle.
Nothing op has said indicates depression or adhd honestly.
HARD disagree. I have both and this is something I struggle with a lot.
Your lived anecdotal experience doesn’t put you in a position to diagnose someone over the internet. I’m not going to take for granted someone is sick. I’m going to hold them to the same standard I hold everyone else

You can always take a soapy wash cloth and wash your parts that cause sweat/odor in between whole showers every ~3 days, from what this log shows. (Face, arm pits & groin)
No need for the groin part, because I have a bidet-attachment that I use every morning. Ironic for a neckbeard to have a bidet device, but it's a huge hygienic upgrade.
I also use the bidet for often over 30 minutes at a time.
Big W for the bidet. Dont think you need to spend half an hour on it though. Save water.
If I ever upgrade to an electric bidet-seat with pulsating massage functions, I could easily see myself spending over an hour on it in pure sensory nirvana.
PS: I am not responsible for the water bill. The only utility I pay for is the electric.
Reading your responses are painting a pretty clear picture of who you are.
Glad you’re trying to get better but ffs man you need help.
Thats not cleaning, thats prostate massage. Right?
It would be plenty of both.
Holy shit you need therapy man
Still a waste of water regardless of who pays
Who pays your water bill? You are really screwing them over with your 30 minute showers and your 30 minute butthole massages.
Who pays your water bill?
My property management company, who also pays for the trash, recycling, and other utilities and services. The electricity is the only utility that the tenants Here Pay for.
Lmao this is wild. Proud of you for trying to improve. As much as you’re enjoying the bidet, butts and pits need to be washed daily with soap and water. Do it right when you wake up or before you go to bed and you’ll eventually fall into a routine.
Like unless you don't work at all, or you live in the woods like you're camping, hygiene is very important within those 3 days Gap. Everybody sweats and it's gross and stinky, and I only responded to help people. that's why he's getting down voted is because he thinks that shortcuts will make him smell better like having a toilet attachment is a fix-all
Not really ironic, neckbeards love to talk about bidets for some reason... They don't shut the fuck up about them actually.
You still need to use soap. Water is not enough
Then hopefully, somebody can come along with a link to a bidet device that also dispenses liquid soap.
Just get soap?
having a bottle of soap nearby is too much of a hassle?
Is this a sex thing
You could say it sort of somewhat is as well, because I also use the bidet to wash away any of the cum left in my groin area.
Yikes 🤢
no self respecting man should leave the house with an un-washed ass. improvements are improvements and progress is progress.
personally i try to shower almost immediately after waking up on work days before my mind can process anything at all. full autopilot from the bed to the bathroom. weekends are like, if you feel dirty. once you get on daily showers, you’ll start to feel dirty quicker and the shower will become another one of your few happy places. The world outside of this palace of cleanliness cannot affect me
Don't ever listen to anyone who gives you shit over your journey of improvement. Any step forward is valuable no matter how long or short it is. <3
You can probably remove the location line and replace it with a comments line. The default location is then “home” and if it’s ever not home, you can leave a note at the end
Just my opinion, of course. Also, 30 min showers? Damn!
It's definitely an improvement. Once you build the habit you won't need the log and that's another positive step. I don't know why you're taking such long showers every time but at least you're showering.
The reason for the showers being longer than normal is because I also floss and brush my teeth in there. Also, every time I floss, I floss each Gap twice.
What are you doing when you floss?
Lots of people don’t know this, The purpose of flossing is not to stick the floss between your teeth and move back and forth.
Take the floss, insert between teeth, start at the base of a tooth, and then scrape from bottom to top the side of your tooth.
Scraping is the key word here. You’re not trying to dislodge an object, you’re trying to scrape off the plaque from the side of your tooth. Just as a brush does for the front and top
Waste of water to leave the shower running to floss and clean your teeth.
The dude uses a bidet for 30 minutes everyday at least. He doesn’t give a fuck about water waste.
My property management company pays the water bill, the individual tenants in my apartment building do not. That's why I don't need to care.
If they pay shower more lok
Sounds like you're getting a routine down, but I'd definitely cut back on flossing in the shower but you're making progress.
OP, I see you pushing back against much needed advice in the comments. Almost everything that people are saying is not up for debate. Shower at least every other day. Showering longer does not keep you clean for longer. Brush your teeth twice a day. Wear armpit deodorant every day, I’d personally replace the axe with deodorant. Store your tea in the fridge.
It's neck beard that you shower around 8 times a month, not that you track it. Though it is neck beard to track it, know it, and still shower around 8 times a month.
Judging from this log and some of ops comments… Op is fucking gross
At least I am doing better than when I used to shower once a week until 2020.
I don’t just mean your hygiene dude…
What else do you mean then?
Okay, you’re right, some progress is better than none. But your fixation on the bidet, attachment to your phone, your masturbation habits, the flippant attitude towards wasting water, and your constant pushback against some good advice and criticism in the comments. If this is all real and not some trolling, you have some serious soul searching to do. Because your issues go far deeper than some stinky breath and pits
Now I will have to find out how to effectively get started on my soul searching...
Homeboys walking around with his boxers stuck to him and wondering if showering every 4 days is gross. This is so funny.
Is there a reason you don't shower every day? I recently learned my wife has shower anxiety which I didn't even know was a thing.
I don't like to be separated from my phone. Even if there was a way to waterproof the phone to make it safe to use in the shower, I would still also need a tankless water heater so that the hot water never runs cold, like it currently does after only 20 to 30 minutes during the colder months.
Why the long shower? My wife's anxiety causes her to take quick showers
Because I also floss and brush my teeth in there. In fact, that is how I begin my showers.
Wait? Are you not brushing your teeth every day either?
Nope, just every shower, although just as soon as the u-shaped Autobrush arrives, since it brushes every tooth simultaneously for 30 seconds, I will be more than happy to brush over the sink daily again.
But even with that, a shower still shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes?
How do you manage to floss in the shower? I have to get my hands completely dry after washing them before I’m able to floss without the string slipping through my fingers.
What??? anxiety separation from your phone prevents you from having showers?? what exactly do you feel you'll miss out from in the space of a few minutes? If you insist on having the phone with you at all times then take a bath instead and have it off to the side. most modern phones can survive a short drop in the water anyway.
I'm always amazed how many folks dislike or struggle with showers because I'm the opposite where I'd live in them like a domesticated mermaid 😅. Like no judgment I mean my brain just cannot comprehend it because I find showers more peaceful and relaxing than anything else in my life and I hate it that some folks struggle with it so much instead of feeling better from it. 😢
I think a lot of people struggle with the change of state, like the thought of getting in the shower can be too much because of the effort of getting up, getting undressed etc. But then once you finally do make it in the shower it's the best thing ever and you don't want to get out and deal with being cold, wet and naked.
This right here. Anxiety and depression and the associated sensory processing issues make it difficult to take care of yourself sometimes.
Before I was medicated for anxiety and just had doctors tell me to try exercising, I would have crippling anxiety attacks and used to take “shower-baths” where I plugged the drain so it would fill like a bath and be warm but it would shower on me while I was in the bath like warm rain and it was the only thing that helped me relax. On the other hand, my mom hates having to shower so I get the dichotomy lmao
For me it’s sensory issues. I hate the feeling of water on me, feeling cold, having long wet hair that doesn’t dry fast, I hate using hairdryers, I hate being wet. The showers always too hot, too cold, not clean enough. Even right now I’m dealing with just getting out of the shower and not trying to rip off my own skin from feeling so dry. And lotion is also a sensory nightmare. Like my body is genuinely cringing everytime I touch my skin on something right now. And don’t even get me STARTED on how the between parts of my toes feel after showering. Nightmare fuel. Everything about showering to me feels like nails on chalkboard. I don’t like being dirty and I do push myself to do it every few days but damn. Its hard.
I have an autoimmune disease which causes chronic pain, fatigue, and nausea so that can make showers very taxing. It’s very common for people with chronic illnesses in general. I’d never go as long as op without showering though, even during a flare up.
I don't exactly get why neckbeards think that this is a support sub
neckbeards seeing this sub, going “shit… good point” and reforming is a win in my book
I don’t understand why you spend such an excessive time showering when you have phone separation issues. I take a shower every single day and I spend less time in a shower than you ever week, so I am also separated from my phone for less time.
Any steps to improve yourself and your situation are a good thing. I don't know if this is depression related for you, but if it is - often one small step at a time is so much more achievable than going for big sweeping change. And those little steps compound. Two years ago I had anxiety so severe I had panic attacks leaving the house. By making small changes and being determined to stick to them I have completely reversed that and my anxiety falls into the "mild" range in the screens we use at therapy. I have very little or even no anxiety leaving the house now and actually enjoy it. That problem that seemed insurmountable staring up from the foot of it was conquered not in a week of gruelling climbing, but in two years of taking a step each day
Tl;dr: good thing. Keep making positive changes
I would recommend showering at least one more time, preferably 2 or 3 times per week. HOWEVER, this is an act of self improvement and you should always be proud of yourself and please with yourself when you improve yourself.
Good on you.
True. But showering 2-3 times per week is not enough by any means. I don’t know if you’ve been around someone who doesn’t shower daily but the smell is so off putting. I just wish we could stop cushioning and start calling out. This is not normal and shouldn’t be normal.
I would recommend showering at least one more time, preferably 2 or 3 times per week. HOWEVER,
The suggestion was to add, at least 1, but hopefully 2-3 MORE showers per week to the pattern established which is roughly twice a week looking at the log they're keeping.
Personally, I love my showers and am a once a day guy, but 4 showers a week is plenty for some people depending on biological factors, activity levels, diet, etc.
OP is CLEARLY looking for positive feedback. Do you know how positive feedback works? It's simple. A person improves something about themselves > other people notice and give the person validating remarks > the person feels validated, which feels good > the brain wants more of that validation, driving the person to continue forward to make more progress > the person (usually) continues and makes more progress.
So if OP is actively looking for positive feedback and doing something worthy of it, them I'm giving it to them. Usually, it's more effective than "calling out." Calling someone else has it's place, but this isn't it. Being an abrasive jerk to other people feels great and all, but a lot of the time it's the wrong approach.
So I'll make you a deal. How about you delete your comment and any other negative comments you've left here, and instead of contributing to whatever issues are making it hard for OP to take care of themselves, you either sit this out or be more helpful? And I'm return, I'll delete this comment, and we can maximize encouraging OP to contribute working on themselves? I think it'll be more effective. There's plenty of people you can call out at other times.
How about op attempts to understand that showering every day is the most ideal and you can delete whatever comments of yours you want lmao
You’re acting like taking a 5 minute shower every day is an impossible task and that op is only capable of adding 1 shower per week.
No sorry it’s really not, just needs to jump in and rinse off with body wash for a couple minutes and dry off.
Keep patting yourself on the back for being so positive ;)
It’s good that your improving but 4 days is nasty try to work towards atleast every 2 days
Shower every day and you won't need the log.
I don't feel gross until 3 to 4 days after the last shower.
Neither do I. Shower every day anyway.
You still have to shower even if you don’t “feel” gross. Showering every day or every other day is a good rule of thumb to go by. They don’t have to be long showers, just get the important areas clean.
It’s actually recommended to shower twice a week. Showering everyday is bad for your skin and immune system. However if you are physically very active you need to shower more obviously
Recommended by who lol
I live in tropical Australia and you shower twice a day here not twice a week. And our skin is doing just fine.
It’s mid-summer. Shower upon waking and shower before bed. And if you have a swim at the beach, a freshwater rinse afterwards which would make three times a day.
I also thought I would be more thorough the longer I shower and therefore wouldn't need to shower as often as long as each shower is long.
After all, if a 10-minute shower keeps you fresh for one day, would a 30-minute shower keep you fresh for 3?
zealous possessive groovy test workable subtract fragile edge fearless subsequent
This post was mass deleted and anonymized with Redact
So why wouldn't a longer shower keep me fresh for longer?
Thats the dumbest thing ive ever read lol, this logic makes absolutely zero sense. Are you under the impression that showering for longer gives you some kind of aura that stops you from getting dirty or sweaty for longer?
Something like that, though "aura" wasn't quite the word I was thinking of.
I thought a more thorough shower meant I take longer to get filthy again.
By this logic, I can just scrub one dish for like 5 hours and then I can use it over and over for a week without washing it and it’ll stay clean, right?
Oh, I see what you did there.
That's not how that works...
No, that's not how it works unfortunately. Washing off sweat and dirt takes a few minutes, after that, you're just rinsing clean skin (which does feel nice, long showers can be neat). It starts building up again afterwards at the same pace, whether you showered for 30 minutes or ten. Showering for longer doesn't impregnate your skin against dirt or anything.
By this logic if you wash a plate for longer you can eat two meals off it
Funny logic, but I now get what you mean.
This is wildly stupid. Imagine saying 'if I wash the dinner plate for 10 minutes and it keeps it clean for 1 meal, wouldn't washing it for 30 minutes keep it clean for 3 meals?'
No! That's not how being dirty works. You're either clean or you're not. And trust me, if you don't shower every day, you probably stink.
Jesus christ bro
Not feeling gross and not being gross are two vastly different things.
You might not feel gross but others definitely smell you.
Every day before I leave my apartment, I put on the Axe Harmony body spray. I spray four times - once on the front of my neck, once on the back of my neck, once on my waist, and once on my lower back.
If I feel grosser than normal, or if it's a hotter time of the year, I also put on a stick of Old Spice deodorant/antiperspirant.
How am I smelled by others at that point?
This has to be a joke. Axe on the neck? Boy clean those pits PLEASE. Daily!
You should always wear deodorant. Anti-perspirant.
Apply daily after you’ve dried from the shower.
I can tell you how you may smell to others after wearing a e body spray.
They will smell the body spray, but then can also smell if you are unclean. It doesn’t replace the smell, it’s just on top.
They can still smell if you are unclean.
There is no way this guy isn’t trolling
Sir Axe body spray, is not cologne.
Trust me the body odor gets through. You just smell like body odor and cheap cologne. You don’t smell the BO because you are nose blind to it. Everyone else certainly does.
I know people like you. HR at a my company had to talk to someone like you because their odor was becoming a problem in the office.
axe body spray is bad but using it as a perfume is even worse and you're tormenting people around you
Why do you need to "feel gross" before having a shower again? Feeling gross is way beyond the warning sign that you should of already showered by now. You get used to your own smell, I can assure you that people think you stink. If you're okay with that, then I don't know what to say.
You should never get to the point of feeling gross.
Who tf raised you? Feeling gross is not why people shower. When you feel gross it's way past the time you had to shower
You might not feel gross but I promise you are
3-4 days is absolutely fine, if you are not highly physically active. Listen to your body, if you start to smell or are very sweaty take a shower. If not, then don’t. People are absolutely delusional suggesting showering everyday no matter what. It’s actually bad for your health. (Too few showers also tho)
I'm going to say improving. If this helps you shower more regularly it's a good thing. One thing you learn in therapy is that even if something seems silly or weird or whatever to do, if it helps you reach your goals it's worth doing.
These are long showers, I think. I can usually shower in like 10 minutes tops, and I’m a relatively furry girl with long hair. It might make showering easier to incorporate in your daily schedule if you can streamline the process a bit. But please don’t forget to soap your pits, butt, face, and neck, not necessarily in that order.
Creating a log, keeps you constantly accountable. I think you should mix it up with alternating 3 and 4 days until you can move to 3 days.
Also too much axe or spray in general can be over powering. I am sensitive to perfumes and body sprays so I tend to move away from people who wear alot. Something to think about.
It's only neckbeardy in the sense that you keep an almost autistic level of detail but that's secondary to just having basic hygiene.
Do whatever works for you. You just don't need to share your shower journal with irl people though
Def a neckbeard shower schedule however any progress forward is something positive. Why don’t you try to shower every other day starting now in the new year? That would be a great step forward and put you on a relatively normal shower schedule
If keeping this level of notes is what gets you to keep showering regularly, keep it up. 👍
The level of notes does show a bit of obsessive tendencies though, have you considered getting professional help? It may be effecting you a lot more than you realize, and warping how you see normal behaviors.
You are making great process. I believe in you, you will get there 🫶
If the notes help you no problem, but you need to also make steps to actually improve your behaviour. IMO Daily showers are a must for everyone unless you have a condition that prevents this or you don't have access to enough clean water.
If you have to keep a shower log because the answer to "when did you shower last" isn't "yesterday" or "today," then yes, this is very neckbeardy.
I struggle to understand why you would need this. Like, if it helps you, crack on but I just have a shower before I get dressed. If I don't I feel a bit ratty. I'm acutely aware that I haven't showered and will shower as soon as I have a chance.
Sometimes things like depression makes keeping track of things like this hard, or you sort of get used to the ratty feeling. I know personally I'll forget sometimes due to ADHD and autism, plus a general lack of energy. Sometimes the gross feeling doesn't outweigh the complete lack of energy needed to have a shower.
Self improvement. You're a recovering neckbeard.
Try to get around to every other day to keep fresh
I think it’s great to journal and hold yourself accountable. That being said, just don’t overdo it - I have OCD and sometimes I let things like this get out of hand.
If it’s helping you improve your hygiene, then by all means keep doing it. You probably don’t need to include the elapsed time, unless you’re planning to make like a spreadsheet at the end or something.
I would recommend putting it in google sheets. You can get actual data analytics off of it. Way easier to manage than a written ledger
It’s weird but showering is a good thing so I see this as an absolute win
Use a habit tracker app.
I looked that up on my Google Play store, there appear to be several, so which one is the best one to use, and how come?
these comments from OP scream that hes kind of proud to be a neckbeard or at the very least has embraced the lifestyle 🥴
Neck beard thing? This seems like autism tbh lol
Shower every day
Shower every day and then you don't have to worry about keeping track. I don't know what other circumstances you have but going 4-5 days without showering isn't great. Treat yourself better dude, you will feel better for it.
I mean, it's fairly neckbeardy to have to keep track of showers, it's just something that should be a habit at this point (you know, to stay clean) but I guess it's good if you want to build up to developing this habit.
I mean. If it helps you, then it's a good thing.
Neckbeard? Nah. However you are DEFINITELY on the spectrum in some manner aren't you, this seems like some shit my ADHD ass would do for fits and shiggles because data is fun
Yes, I was first diagnosed as being on the Spectrum in fifth grade.
I just went down a rabbit hole scrolling your profile after reading the mods comment about you potentially being a bot and it was a strange trip…
My dude, shower at least every other day- preferably daily. Brush your teeth twice daily. Get off Reddit and go live in the real world. I get that you are most definitely not neurotypical and are likely depressed but this can not be a satisfying life. I hope you are in therapy.
I say this all with the kindest of intentions.
Shower every day ya feral
You do realize that showering for half an hour doesn't make up for the fact that you haven't showered in 4 days right?
Ewwwwww
Keeping a showering log isn't neckbeardy. Waiting 3-5 days between showers is VERY neckbeardy.
Seriously OP, shower at least every day. It's more hygienic and you wouldn't need a showering log.
Where on earth do you live that you don't shower every day as a minimum?
You go 5 days without showering??
Better than a full week. I average around 3-5 days.
Ew
Why aren’t you showering every day?
1/2 an hour in the shower?? Fuck the planet I guess
Cut your shower time down to 8 minutes at most, you should never need more than this, instead up the frequency to daily. This is non-negotiable.
Rookie numbers. Anyone who can’t schedule knows how to perform the coveted 3 minute full service shower (drying not included)
Jesus how do people not shower every day. Do u now how fucking luxurious it is? You have access to a shower and don’t use it frequently? Wild to me. Hot Showers are such an under appreciated technological marvel. Staggering.
You need to shower more dude holy shit. That's gross. Every 4 days?!
Just writing down that you only shower twice a week isn't fixing it.
Tesla also kept a schedule of all of his activities so he could put to use all of his time as efficiently as possible.
He did so as a sort of trauma response because his hardass pastor of a father used to chastize him about wasting time.
Just shower daily man geez, it's not like it's difficult.
I don't like to get separated from my phone, and even if there was a way to waterproof my phone for showers, my hot shower would run cold after only 30 minutes in the winter time anyway. I would love for my property management company to install a tankless water heater so that hot water never runs out no matter how long I take.
What's so important on your phone that you can't put it down for 10 mins a day?
Reading on, and posting to Reddit.
I have learned to cope by playing cheery music playlists while showering, like this one: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL78665FC1F7E9ED5D&si=koG3wmB8VxLjh-pI
Sometimes, I may instead opt to listen to lectures like from audiobooks.
an app is preventing you from having normal hygiene
you need to talk to a therapist.
That's what I do as well. I play music while I shower as well as when I'm doing anything constructive around my house.
Just have a shorter shower... 30mim is a long time.
Man you do not need a tankless heater because you do not need to spend 30+ minutes in a shower. What a waste of time and water. I hope you don’t live in a place with water scarcity.
Whatever works for you. I wear a smartwatch for one primary reason - if it goes dead, it's been too long since I've showered. So if you're a neckbeard then so am I.
If it ain't daily it ain't enough.
Take one every day dude
Why not just shower every day? Silly.
I don't like when the hot water runs cold after only 20 to 30 minutes, and I like to keep using my phone during all my waking hours.
I would feel like I'm in some kind of a shower heaven if the shower was the size of some kind of a closet, and there was a seat for me to sit down on while being showered on at the same time, and the hot water never ran cold.
This has got to be a joke but just in case ...
-
probably best to put the phone down for a few minutes each day, eh? I doubt it's all quality content.
-
a shower takes 10 minutes max. Just get in, rinse all the bits and sing one to two songs. I go with the Jojos season one opening and the death note ending. Pick your favorites.
-
you don't sit down in showers unless you are over 300 pounds, no disrespect if you are in which case I understand.
-
the hot water only runs cold if you did it wrong
-
showers are indeed usually closet sized unless it's in a bath in which case if you want to sit down and stay there for 20 minutes and look at your phone there's your solution. You're a bath guy.
Now on the tiny chance this is serious it seems that you have a few more issues than just not knowing how to take a shower.
Thankfully, I weighed in at only 219 lbs yesterday. I weighed ~268 in February 2024, so I've been working hard at dropping the pounds.
Shower every day and then you don't have to keep track
If it's stupid but works it isn't stupid. Logging your showers sounds a bit neckbeardy, but when it helps you with hygiene then it's a good thing
I put it in my habit tracking app so that I log whether I showered or not on the day I'm supposed to shower, which makes me actually shower that day. I wouldn't consider myself a neckbeard. Just getting over some mental health issues :)
some of yall are awful judgey about mental health lmao
I think it’s hard when people don’t seem accepting of advice/help… him saying he can’t shower more often because he can’t be away from his phone for that long is concerning, and people suggesting he look into getting help for that are being ignored. I get the mental health struggle, I have bipolar, major depression, CPTSD and a traumatic brain injury. I’ve been involuntarily hospitalized twice. It’s an everyday battle.
Instead of keeping a log…..just asked every day. No log needed.
If you have trouble with a routine, who am I to judge?
The frequency seems fine if you aren't generally getting dirty from various activities. I shower about every two to three days, as showering daily (unless it's just water) can dry your skin.
Unless you like showering that long, it isn't needed. Get in, scrub down head to toe and get out. I usually like sitting in the shower too, maybe 10 minutes at most. It just seems like a lot of water and (if hot) electricity/gas usage.
You nasty!
Who takes that long to masturbate in the shower?
I only do it in bed.
Shower everyday, you stinky fuck!
Good for you to make a step towards some different habits.
I probably would stop the notes or aiming to stop that soon and bring that frequency to 1-2 days and you’ll away laughing.
How's your water bill?
Thankfully, I don't have one because the water bill is the responsibility of my property management company. The tenants are only responsible for the electric, aside from the rent.
They can up your rent if you cause them financial loss with too much usage of utilities. Just so you know
4 days? Jesus Christ. In the summer I take 2 showers a day one in the morning and one at night, during the summer, in the winter I shower at least once a day i.e pits, taint, face, hair. Then a full body shower every other day.
What took you longer on January 6th?
Stop jerking off in the shower
I only jack off in bed. I don't know how to jack off correctly standing up.
This is self improvement 1000%, beyond a shadow of a doubt. Very un-neckbeardly and you should be proud :D
They definitely didn’t do as well together after his death.
I don't know what you're trying to say here. Did you mean to post this on a different thread?
Oh yeah. It was about the Beatles and the death of their producer, George Martin.
What the fuck
30 minutes...but you're not showering often enough to care about showering...you're not showering for 30 minutes, OP.
Shower every day. No exceptions. That’s the bare minimum.
I used to only shower once a week, and then somebody screenshotted my admission of that, posted it to r/JustNeckbeardThings, where it got about 8,000 upvotes. That was the clearest ever message that showering once a week was not good enough, so I had to start showering more often.
I'm in the shower for 25-40 minutes at a time though. Is that better than a 10-minute shower? (It's because I also brush and floss my teeth in there.)
If it makes you feel any better, I was also bullied into improving my personal hygiene when I posted a photo of my bedroom to the 4chan /fit/ board and some user roasted me with an absolutely scathing burn regarding the state of my room
And I've kept a perfectly clean room for like 8+ years now
I wish I could thank that anon
It’s a huge waste of water to shower that long. The length of a shower isn’t what does it, it’s being thorough.
Shower heads average 1.5-2.5 gallons per minute. So you’re using 45 to 100 gallons of water per shower, which is insane. (170 litres to 378 litres) Depending on your shower head and how long you’re in there.
Brush your teeth and floss before or after.
I ordered the Autobrush just the other day with my brand new zero-interest credit card, and it's a U-shaped brush that will brush all my teeth simultaneously and finish in only 30 seconds. Then I should be more motivated to brush outside of the shower, and at least once a day. I'll just have to see what happens as soon as it arrives. It had better not disappoint.
I’m going to be a complete contrarian: I’m not wasting the water if I’m using it and enjoying it, and especially for someone trying to improve hygiene, enjoyment is the most important force to help build that habit.
I will happily continue to take burning hot showers that often exceed 20-30 minutes with dual showerheads and not worry about it being wasted, since it brings me happiness. It feels good. I’m paying for the water.
In support though, it really is thoroughness that gets you clean, not time. I scrub myself clean and bask in hot water for long stretches of time, but it is worth squashing any thoughts that time is what matters.
terrible for your skin and very costly every other day or every 2 days is perfectly fine as long as your not a blue collar worker or a chef
I'm a sensitive skin person, so I'm with you. Dermatologists say that every couple of days is better for your skin, although your activity levels may make a daily shower preferable.
yeah i got a seriously bad case of psoriasis all over my body if i shower more then once in 2 days ill turn into a snowblower but as long as its every other day its chillin mfs werent taking showers every single day 60 years ago so ion see much of a problem
That sounds like nonsense. I jog every morning, I'm not just gonna sit there for 48 hours stewing in old sweat
That falls under the same category as working a physically.demanding job, so yeah, it's different. Most people don't jog every morning or work in, say, construction, though.
===
Something like that, though "aura" wasn't quite the word I was thinking of.
I thought a more thorough shower meant I take longer to get filthy again.
In terms of hygiene It takes 5 minutes to have a thorough shower. Once you leave the shower it takes the exact same amount of time to accumulate sweat, dirt and bacteria.
I don’t know who has failed you in your life but as a 38 year old man I’m telling you that waiting to “feel gross” isn’t the metric by which judge when is best to have a shower. Because the level of “gross” you have become accustomed to is way above that of someone who showers daily. I shower daily, I work a desk job. I do go to the gym, I eat health and I’ve never been a big sweater. I even live in a cold country. That all said, if I miss a day of showing I can very much feel it and that is gross to me. My hair is more oily, my pits and groin are a bit more fragrant and damp feeling and all in alI can very much feel the fact that I haven’t showered and it gets to me. I don’t like to stew in the bacteria and sweat and oils that I’m constantly excreting - and I will shower asap.
Your gross isn’t functioning level of society gross. When I was in my twenties I worked retail and me and my workmates could always clock the people who hadn’t been showering. It’s not hard for those that do. Because those that don’t shower are so used to their own smells that they are blind to them. You need to bump or your showers to at least once every other day mate. I’m sorry that someone has failed you in this regard, I do wish you better. I’m not sure if you are neurodivergent in some way so I don’t mean to be offensive. But if what you want is to be less of a neckbeard then you need to look after your hygiene and learn to see it as the act of self care that it is. Not something to be avoided and scheduled in a the furthest apart intervals as possible. Hygiene is an important part of a daily routine and looking after your physical hygiene over time will have a positive effect on your mental hygiene as well. I wish you the best.
Really think about that, does that actually make sense to you? Does showering for longer reduce sweating? Shower every day dude.
he might actually be a bit slow..
===
Nope, just every shower, although just as soon as the u-shaped Autobrush arrives, since it brushes every tooth simultaneously for 30 seconds, I will be more than happy to brush over the sink daily again.
Bro, you need to be brushing twice a day...
You dont need to brush your teeth for 10 minutes, especially if you only do it every 4 days I’m sure the tartar buildup is significant and your gums bleed because they are not accustomed to it. Do it every day, do it quick if you need to, but just get it over with.
===
Yes, more floss per dollar, and significantly less wasteful as far as single use plastics go.
I have never learned to floss well in my childhood, when I tried the old fashioned floss in a box. I became far better at flossing with those Plackers double-string flossing sticks like as shown in the picture.
===
Now I will have to find out how to effectively get started on my soul searching...
Start with therapy for phone addiction. And take your boxers off after you cum in them
===
Who pays your water bill?
My property management company, who also pays for the trash, recycling, and other utilities and services. The electricity is the only utility that the tenants Here Pay for.
Oh, you’re paying for it. It’s just bundled to your rent. Sure, it’s not on a per-consumption basis, but they’re not giving you free utilities lol
I can’t believe we’re explaining this to another adult.
I mean a lot of places the property managers will actually make you pay separately or if they don’t they’ll explicitly be like “we have water covered you need to just pay gas and electric” and I don’t blame them I saw my utilities bill my water bill was like $2 and my electricity bill was like $50. I can see why many adults don’t realize the difference. But also since OP and other people who get into “you don’t pay water” housing already pay for it with their rent they don’t have to pay for the major indulgences like 30+ minute showers and bidet sessions.

Idk why you’re getting downvoted. I have eczema, if I showered every day my skin would peel off. Washcloths exist. Dry shampoo exists. Soap exists. Showering everyday seems to be an American thing. More than once a day is also ridiculous. Ask literally any derm who knows what they’re doing.
OP should probably shower everyday if he walks around with soiled underwear for 4 days that’s so gross. Idk what the point of showering even is if he walks around with that.
===
You have to be trolling. You jerk off into your underwear and then don’t shower for 4 days after you put them back on?….
I jack off while wearing that underwear because I jack off through my underwear.
You said you ejaculate into your boxers?
After checking your post history I’m not sure you are trolling so I feel bad. I wish you the best but you should take the advice offered to you. Even if you don’t feel dirty, shower at least one a day. Yes every few days is better than once a week.
But you can literally shower in 10 minutes. Just start the habit.
I’m actually upvoting you back to zero for honesty. If you start taking more, shorter showers, you’ll likely only need to wash your hair once a week, twice if it’s long.
Also, I just brushed my teeth and flossed and then took a shower, and I was out of the bathroom in 20 minutes.
===
You should definitely wash more than the hairy parts.
Whole thing gets washed. I’m showing him where to scrub. I don’t know man, I’m trying to get him out of there quickly. What are we even doing with our lives, having this conversation lmao?
Oh thank God. I was scared you were gonna lead him down the path of not washing his legs.
And we're gaining insight to the broad scope of human experience and hopefully becoming more empathetic in the way.
Or something like that.
Gravity washes the legs.
Is that you, Ashton Kutcher?
===
You know how sometimes when you walk by someone and they stink? Do you think those are the people that shower everyday or every three days?
It depends upon your body chemistry and how much you sweat daily. If you work out showering everyday si a must. Showering everyday disrupts your skin's natural biome and dries you out.
In my experience people stinking mostly has to do with bad diet and never doing laundry than showering every day. My skin produces less oil when I don't scrub my skin every day

Taking 5 showers every 14 days and 10 showers a month is a long ways away from everyday. Even a stinking mathematician knows that
2-3 times a week is what was said. So even on your best week you’re still not going every other day.
If you shower on Tuesday and Friday, that’s not every other day. Even Mon Wed Fri you’re still going three days at some point.
But regardless of the semantics, yall stink, take a shower more than twice a week.

Lol ok. You seem pretty adamant, so I’ll leave it at this: you have a major blind spot. Germs, especially from using the bathroom. Hope you don’t die of Hep A or adenovirus 😐
I actually wash my hands and sanitize more than the average person does because I hate being sick because I’m not sick physically often and my partner has OCD about hand washing. Thank you for your concern though I hope you don’t either.

This is how you give women a UTI. Nasty. Idk if you smell or not good hygiene is not just for you it’s for people around you. Like I shower once a day, sometimes I skip if it’s a lazy day but I can see if someone goes two days it’s not completely unheard of but dude no showering? Gross
I’ve only given one person a UTI and that was a hookup on a weeklong camping trip and we were both filthy and got UTIs/infections. My longer term partners also do not suffer from chronic UTIs and if they did and showering twice a day fixed that I’d do that. Like I said if I’m having sex I wash my body/dick/hands at least beforehand.
I’m super paranoid about how I smell around people. I make sure I hit myself with a spray of cologne and mouthwash before I go out of the house. If I’m working I carry deodorant with me just in case even if I took a shower that morning.
I mean my point stands you have someone a utility because your are not clean. depending on “activities“ they probably are still touching you also and it’s just still a higher increase to exposure . I feel like you should disclose your hygiene practices to potential partners. Because that’s a hard pass for myself and many others. Like you do you man but that’s just not normal or okay unless you have an actual condition that properly bathing yourself is not obtainable.
Like seriously, you need to bath more often and properly.

So why wouldn't a longer shower keep me fresh for longer?
If I wash my hands for an hour,
And then leave the house and grab a handful of dirt, the extra hour I spent washing my hands isn’t going to stop them getting dirty from the dirt.
Whether I was for 2 minutes or an hour, I’m still going to be just as dirty.
Same for your body. Your body produces sweat every day, and so gets dirty every day. Washing for longer doesn’t change how dirty you get the next day.
Think of it like this, your body has a level of cleanliness. You can become 100% clean after 5 minutes of a shower.
Staying longer doesn’t make you any cleaner.
And so you will get just as dirty whether you shower for 5 minute or for an hour.
Think of it like filling a cup with water. If you fill it for 30 minutes, it’ll be just as full as if you filled it for 30 seconds.
This is why consistency is important for hygiene. More than thoroughness
I think this may be the best analogy for the entire thread. I would like to say you win the internets on this one.
Because your skin microbiome doesnt care how many minutes you spent, 3 days is more than enough time for it to reproduce to the point of "blooming" odoriferously
You gotta do it often enough for it not to get the chance and less than every other day is pushing it regardless of the minutes
Because soap works once to clean you and the extra 20 minutes spent doesnt actually add any extra cleaning (unless you cant soap scrub your whole body and wash your hair in 10 minutes).
They said they brush and floss first and it’s attached to their showering activity if they could put those in two different acts they’d have much shorter showers and be cleaner too.
if you can clean a plate in 30 seconds, cleaning it for an additional 60 seconds after it's already clean doesn't mean you can use it 3 times before it's dirty.
Spending more time cleaning skin that is already clean doesn't make it any more clean
It can actually cause you to be fresh for LESS time. The more time you spend cleaning, the more you strip yourself of natural oils and positive bacteria. This can lead to you smelling worse quicker, and being more prone to being sick, as well as dryer skin and potentially eczema. Temperature also matters, with scolding hot water being worse for you than room temperature water, as the hot water may damage your skin.
Even if you brush and floss in the shower (I do the same every morning, and do a weekly shave), your shower shouldn't take more than 15 mins. Brushing your teeth should only take 2 mins, and flossing maybe 5. That leaves you with 8 mins to clean, which should be plenty of time, especially considering you use a multipurpose soap. If you have a loofah, it will speed up the process even moreso. Even with a shave (I'm bald so both too of head and 3/4 of facial hair), I'm maybe in the shower for 20 mins at most.
As an addition, washing your genitals by cleaning them on a bidet is not sufficient. There are certain procedures you should follow to ensure everything is properly cleaned, and a bidet doesn't cut it. All a bidet is useful for (in terms of self care) is to remove poo particles from your backside.
Good luck, hopefully you can get into the habit of daily self care, but you are on the right track!
All of OPs post history and comments read like a bot/AI. Weird.
Not sure what to do with that info, but unless he can show me more of this shower log imma delete bc it feels like it’s engagement bait. LOL
