I kept my 2018 Prius Prime Premium plugged in during the recent winter storm. The charger iced over but I managed to get it loose from the ice with a hammer multitool and successfully removed it. Did the weather, snow and ice damage anything in the charging system?

Charging

Did anybody else keep theirs plugged in during the winter storm? Will the charger (cord and charging head) be damaged at all due to exposure to the elements?

Anyways, I managed to get the car to a full charge of 23.5 miles and I'm sitting in it getting it defrosted as I type.

The weather won't hurt the charger, the hammer and multi-tool could mess it up in a hurry.

I have a protector over the plug with magnet on the car. It's perfect for winter/rain/ice.

Could you tell me more about this por favor?

You can search “electric car charger protector” on amazon. Mine is handmade by my girlfriend.

You can do one yourself with some vapor barrier plastic, self adhesive magnetic tape, some duct tape and a clip. This is what I did for my Prime

This is the one I did for my Model 3 (done three years ago)

Should be fine - are you having any problems?

I charge mine in the storm, my charge is only getting 17 miles rn but it works
