Do you not have a house number show up anywhere on your property? Or know anyone else who doesn't? I give this quick speech to any Doordash customer who doesn't:

Until I did this shit, I never thought about street numbers not being posted on the domiciles. I mostly delivered in the evening hours, and I hated using my phone flash to look at mailboxes. A 6'1 Black dude looking at mailbox numbers in fuckin' Montana, it's not a good look.

Numbers posted, and security lights or porch lights on. PLEASE! Tripping over raised cement in the dark is not the business 😂

And please. For the love of all shit holy, PLEASE SHOVEL YOUR SIDEWALKS.

Yep, and I'll be getting a refund too. That's not my house. I don't know where that is. 🤷

You’re just being lazy for that. You can walk in snow everywhere else but the moment you get to the drop off point you’re out? What if the person living there cannot pick it up themselves?

[–]Careflwhatyouwish4 1 point

And/or can't shovel. Letting the elderly and infirm go hungry as a pinishment isn't a good look.

[–]HardCodeNET 1 point

Then they don't fucking order DoorDash. It's a liability for an idiot to expect people on their property that they can't clean/shovel.

This was November, we had a light dusting of snow in the higher elevations of the city. I almost slipped on some icy stairs because they didn't lay the salt down. I was being careful and still managed to slide some. Thank goodness they had a rail.

As someone who’s been there first hand, that shit is definitely not the business lol scraped the shit outta my arm while throwing their whole order on their porch leaving huge mess

[–]Ambitious-Duck7078 1 point

I'm glad you're ok, and just a scrape. Raised cement took out a former supervisor of mine that was riding those rented motor scooters. His face was pretty bad during the healing stage.

Yeah, I understand the shoveling part. I ordered delivery a few days ago and gave whatever the recommended tip was. Lady arrived and with one look I realized she'd had to walk through drifted snow to get to me. I was like "oh shit, wait one sec", dug an extra ten out of my wallet to add on. Sorry about that. 🤦😞

I'm a 4'11" female and hate this as well. I had a delivery that said go to the left at the driveway, it was rural and a split driveway between two houses. When I got near the house the driveway split again, towards the house and garage, parked there so I knew I had a way to easily turn around since I couldn't see anything further up the driveway. They had one light on at the back of the house so I headed that way, dropped the food off and started walking back, a man came out yelling at me about being on his property and a woman came out onto the porch asking why I was in their property. I told them I was delivering a DD order and they said it must be for their nephew and I should have driven all the way up to the house. I had no clue if I could turn around closer to the house because everything was so dark. Was never yelled at before except one lady came out asking why I was taking a picture of her house because she didn't know her husband ordered DD, he had to come out and calm her down.

It's not worth it. They give no shits about you or your lecture.

[–]tcrossthebawss 2 points

That’s exactly right

[–]Agathorn1 5 points

Yea this world be a quick ignore from me

[–]Careflwhatyouwish4 1 point

I can by ordering from another service staffed by people who do. 😉

Google street view is your friend

Saved my ass on DoorDash and spark many times

[–]SpecialistAd2205 1 point

What if the emergency renders you unable to flag down emergency services? (Fall resulting in severe injury, dangerous person in the home and you're trapped, etc.?)

[–]Old_Introduction7236 1 point

In that case, I'm probably incapacitated and wasn't the one who called them in the first place. I'm not always within arm's reach of my phone, after all.

[–]Fuzzteam7 2 points

Absolutely 👍

[–]Dismal-Highway2483 2 points

I think you should phrase that better. You may think you’re being kind and helpful, but it probably comes off as if you are annoyed.

[–]Far_Cartographer1374 0 points

Well, it IS annoying lol

[–]informationseeker8 2 points

I once let someone kindly know that their pin is on the wrong building…1 star 😂

[–]Low-Impression3367 2 points

Feels more like you are talking down to the customer

[–]jfdboston 1 point

That's when the victim should run into the street and scream!

[–]Careflwhatyouwish4 2 points

Exactly. My house numbers are a stylish late sixties number that I cant believe have ever been visible from the street, and my house is very lit. LOL. That's why I give landmarks/cues to use for the driver to find the house.

[–]sirchrebak9012 2 points

And thankyou so much for that! I always greatly appreciate when either of those things are provided. It just makes things so much easier

[–]MichaelHammor 1 point

Yeah, curious. I live in a very rural area.

[–]Careless_Bird_5624 1 point

That’s a lot of words so that’s sad or happy idk

[–]X2946 1 point

For Christmas a photo was going around that has firemen asking for address on houses. Lol I thought it was weird how some house numbers are not visible, but never thought about how first responders would find your address. Keep in mind firemen show up for more than burning houses which would be obvious

[–]rowdymowdy 1 point

On trac delivery It's like ups

[–]Careflwhatyouwish4 1 point

Ha ha ha. You think there'd be a next time? There's a reason I've switched to preferring Ubereats.

[–]No_Vehicle4645 1 point

Doesn't matter who delivers your food. Your address still needs to be visible.

Even if switching from doordash to uber...... it's a next time. You ordered again.

Also, are you against visible addresses?

[–]Careflwhatyouwish4 0 points

Nope, just stupid drivers that can't follow directions, and no there wouldn't be a next time for that driver and possibly that service.

[–]No_Vehicle4645 1 point

So it's the driver's fault you don't have a visible address? That's so funny.

You realize most people don't have those directions typed out, which is the entire issue with not being able to see the address.

Are you all there?

[–]Careflwhatyouwish4 0 points

Nope, it's the driver's fault they can't find the only red brick house lit entirely up on the entire block as described without seeing the house number. If someone doesn't give you good directions that's on them. If you don't read and follow the easily understandable directions that's on you and not my concern.

[–]No_Vehicle4645 1 point

You are cracking me up, Karen.

I'm sorry for whoever fucked your order up and left you so moldy to a stranger on reddit.

[–]SettingAncient3848 -1 points

Dashers should be able to cancel the delivery if houses are not clearly marked. No repercussions.

[–]Careflwhatyouwish4 1 point

As a customer, I agree presuming there's no other calud instructions to guide you to the house. I'm the only red brick house on my block AND I have a gargoyle in the drive AND three front house lights. C'mon man, you can't find my house?

[–]SettingAncient3848 1 point

Sure but 99% of people do not put that information in their order. Just no numbers on the mailbox or on the front door and no additional information that helps us deliver your food.

[–]Careflwhatyouwish4 1 point

Fine, but the ones who do should be listened to and the directions followed. Hell we should get preferred customer treatment for making your life easier. Instead we often get ignored. Had one idiot show up where I work to deliver to me in a parking deck while it was pouring rain. I gave him turn by turn directions from the restaurant to the entrance, and it's the only parking deck for blocks in any direction with big signs to guide people into parking. He was driving around apparently confused so I went out and waved him into the deck. There's no barricades or barriers to entry. Just drive in, then drive out. Dumb shit stops in the middle of street, gets out in just pouring cats and dogs type rain, runs the order into me, then sprints back to his car where he spent five minutes trying to dry off with napkins before leaving. I just sat there dry and eating and wondering what the fuck goes on in some folks minds. So yeah, if you cant find my location based on the very clear landmarks and cues I give, you deserve the struggle you self create. 🤦
