I recorded this Ballad about an alcoholic, from bed. I used my smartphone as the microphone and songsheet. I used my tablet to play the instrumental through a nearby Bluetooth speaker.: https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/Pij7J

How different would it sound if I recorded it not laying down, but sitting or standing up, in a music studio?

A heck of a lot better.

You don't need a studio, just a good microphone, stand, and interface, headphones. You record only vocals, mix to backing to track in post.

Maybe some sound deadening.
