Are these fuel system cleaners safe for hybrids like ours? Is it high time to dispense these in our tanks at over 192k miles? How much of a difference will these make? (r/CT200h)

I run one through my tank when I do an oil change. So once or twice a year. Im almost at 100k KM, and the engine is 10 years old. Maybe it’s doing something? Maybe not. High grade and top tier gasolines have detergents like this in them so I don’t imagine a bi annual blast of detergent will hurt. I wouldn’t think it’s going to clear out much if any carbon build up in your EGR but it could help to unclog a fuel injector and that’s good news for everyone.

Just don’t toss too much money at these too often and don’t buy cheapo gas from weird stations brands.

I believe I agree with all that you’ve said. Everything in moderation. More than once an oil change is ok though. I like the Lucas brand myself.

Use Chevron with Techron Complete Fuel system cleaner concentrate. It’s the best available on the market. High PEA content. There is practically nothing better except BG.
