Proverbs 22:16 He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who gives gifts to the rich--both come to poverty.

"HE" is the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT. Tax cuts to the wealthy ARE the gifts to the rich; benefits and service cuts from the impoverished ARE the oppressions to the poor.

Now I KNOW why our Lord allowed the >$14 TRILLION deficit to happen to our dear, beloved country!

Other interpretations say "...who gets ahead by oppressing the poor or by showering gifts to the rich..." Well, gaining votes and/or support to gain a political office IS that "getting ahead" and in order to get support from the rich, the politician(s) gave the wealthy tax breaks.

Dear Lord,

PLEASE DELIVER ME FROM OUR CONDEMNED COUNTRY. I need not get caught up in the economic fallout that is sure to follow. Kindly send me the resources I need to emigrate and start a new life overseas, and you will have my utmost and humble gratitude!
